PR System One - disable/turn off bluetooth possible?

Post by GoodNightRest » Sat Aug 20, 2016 1:11 pm

Hi,

I am researching for a spare CPAP (still waiting for my prescription), and I am interested to get the same one that I have now (System One 560P - no Bluetooth).
Unfortunately they don't carry it anymore. The new version has built-in Bluetooth (seems to be true for all 60 series line).
I checked the manual online, searched the forum, I didn't see a way to disable/turn off the built-in Bluetooth feature.

I understand Bluetooth is just a small-power transmitter, but I just don't like it to be on near me the whole night.
(I always set my cellphone to airplane mode when I'm sleeping).

Did anybody find a way to turn off/disable the Bluetooth in these 60 series machine? On setup (clinician) page perhaps?

If it's not possible, any other brand or model recommendation around the same price range with Auto Flex that doesn't have Bluetooth, or Bluetooth can be disabled?
(If I couldn't find anything maybe I'll get the new 560P and use either aluminum foil or Faraday cage bag to cover it).

Thanks!

Check Craigslist or this forum for the model you want.

I did, as I mentioned in my original post:

Wireless sleep trackers use BT. Not cpap machines. (Unless you use a bluetooth sd card)
They use a cellular modem like LTE. Still no big deal, unless you are paranoid about somebody "hacking" your machine.
The world is full of things that warrant more dread. Take cancer, for example.

There is no bluetooth in a cpap!

I suppose you could call it an APAP, but our hosts describe it as a CPAP ... with bluetooth ...

https://www.cpap.com/productpage/pr-sys ... tooth.html

Product Features
The PR 60 Series Auto with Bluetooth is an innovative auto-adjusting CPAP machine that offers the same features as the popular non-bluetooth model but with the added benefit of viewing and tracking therapy data over a bluetooth connection.

Thanks amenite. Yes, that's the machine I am interested in and I plan to get it from our host once I got my prescription.

Additional note:
I am pretty sure a Bluetooth device is always transmitting even though it's not connected to other device (because we can discover that device - Bluetooth discovery).
With my computer, only if I disable the Bluetooth, then it can't be discovered, thus I believe stop transmitting.

I just don't like the idea of electronics device transmitting signal near my head for 8 hours when I am sleeping. As I mentioned in my original post, I even set my cellphone to airplane mode (cut off all transmission) when I sleep.

I actually have one of these new in the box unopened from the blowout sale several weeks back. I was going to leave it that way but if you're in no hurry I'll pull out the manual tonight or tomorrow. You could always contact our host and ask them about it. I'm sure they have access to all the available info on it including the clinician and technical manuals.

As long as the machine is a few feet away, my foil hat will protect me. How do you think the T.V. and Radio get their signal? We live in a sea of electric signal waste. Unless you live in a Faraday cage, you will never be free from electric polution, that's why I got my foil hat.

P.S. Now they have a Tulsa Wireless car charger, you just park over it and it charges your car, no need to hook up the cable. Jim

If my neighbor gets one I will need a thicker hat.

I have the same machine but I leave the Bluetooth on. Here's what you do:

Turn the knob to Setup. Push the knob down and press the ramp button. Hold until you hear two beeps. Then turn the knob to Bluetooth. It probably says "on." Turn the knob so that it says "off" and press the knob. That will save the setting.

This menu is where you can change all your settings such as pressure, change it from CPAP to APAP, etc.

I have the same model. You can turn off BT in the clinician menu. Haven't checked if it's in the regular menu though.

Press the knob and the ramp button simultaneously and wait for the beep.

Good luck.
