Only able to post once without registering?
Only able to post once without registering?
Tried to reply to a post I started as a newbie. Someone had been kind enough to reply to my initial post and tried responding with more info as requested. And a question I'd like answered before I decide to register here, regarding spam and junk e-mail since registration requires you to include an e-mail address. Last think I need is even more spam!
Tried several times--it won't let me post, keep getting error messages. Am I right in assuming that you can only post once and then you have to register to post again?

Not at all... but I don't know why you think you'd get spam by registering - in fact, if you posted any, we'd delete it. Cpap.com is an anomaly - about as close to unmoderated as you can get. The owners are actually terrific people who don't care if we praise other sites and/or equipment, and we get into horrendous set-to's to with each other at times over all kinds of issues (not something to brag about), so the last thing you'd get from us is spam, though I can't vouch for lack of 'language' at times. The dealer site and this one don't interact in any way, and they only come up incidentally in the way I mentioned earlier - that it is the least expensive online DME with the most 'variety' of equipment, advice and business practice we know of, but people here do complain about what they may have thought was bad service on rare occasions, usually because they've misunderstood some transaction, and the complaints stand.
It's a great site for advice, and if you're not terribly thin skinned, for some 'interesting' topics.
I suggest you try registering again, possibly with a diff. name and/or e-mail. Don't know what happened otherwise. Also, your profile allows you to set pretty extensive prefs re how much or little you want to divulge about yourself, who you want to see your posts and/or e-mail and who not, etc. etc.

FYI if you don't want to use your most used email addy just create another one so your main email inbox isn't cluttered. I, myself, have about 4 email boxes for this very reason.dawoodsman wrote:Tried to reply to a post I started as a newbie. That said I don't think I've received much of any emails from this site so my advice is, most likely, moot.

do not worry. After being a member here for almost 10 years - no spam from CPAP companies reached my mail box.

Re: Only able to post once without registering?
In nearly six years I have received precisely ONE spam PM from a commercial entity who registered, but had no posts.
I forwarded the spam message to Carolyn Goodman with my request to have that person's forum privileges removed.
I assume that was done.
PM, or private messaging, is how we exchange our addresses, emails, or phone numbers, and make deals,
BUT ONLY IF WE WANT TO.
The forum allows as much privacy as we choose. Some of us do not even remotely resemble our avatars.

I don't know how you were able to post at all without registering first. Most forums I've seen are that way.

Get OSCAR
Accounts to put on the foe list: dataq1, clownbell, gearchange, lynninnj, mper!?, DreamDiver, Geer1, almostadoctor, sleepgeek, ajack, stom, mogy, D.H., They often post misleading, timewasting stuff.

Re: Only able to post once without registering?
Well I tried replying again--as I found the problem--and it is a real issue, albeit maybe just for guests.
Im tired of typing a detailed reply on what it is so if a mod wants to contact me, reply here with a way to contact them on the side and I will send a detailed reply.
Again i suspect--but am not sure--this only affects guests. It is probably going to discourage people from taking part, if it isn't fixed. But I suspect it might be software system related. In essence the system thinks I am doing something I am NOT, and isn't allowing me to post.

Honestly thought I would--off to easter dinner now though wondering if this is actually one of the sites where snide remarks and people angry with life rule! My offer to help the mods look into this still stands If they are interested.
