Switch to Airsense 10 Autoset -- Mask Leaks!
Switch to Airsense 10 Autoset -- Mask Leaks!
My Resmed S9 Autoset finally kicked the bucket, so I "upgraded" to an Airsense 10 Autoset. Using the same mask as before (F&P 431), I am now experiencing airleaks. Even when doing to Mask Fit setting, I can't get a tight seal. Even if I hold the mask to my face to make the tightest seal I can, it still gives me the frowny face. With my S9 and the same mask, I would get the occasionally leak, but most mornings I would wake up to a smiley face. Any ideas?

just a thought, is the mask type set correctly? Are you actually feeling/hearing leaks or does the machine just say there is a leak? Depending on your answer, could it be a hose connection leak?

Frowning face, if correct, is a large leak. What was the actual leak in L/min. ?Tallen234 wrote:My Resmed S9 Autoset finally kicked the bucket, so I "upgraded" to an Airsense 10 Autoset. Are your settings the same as before? EPR the same ? Have you determined from where the leak is arising ?
A bit off topic:
What in the S9 died ?
Why didn't you get it repaired ?

My brother got a new bipap after 7 years and even though the pressure settings are the same, he gets noticeably more air from the new bipap than the old. He was able to actually cut his settings back from a top rate by 2 settings. Could be that your unit was failing over a long time or simply wasn't holding pressure to expected mark.

Please update your profile with the correct information. Your profile still shows a humidifier from an S8 machine.Tallen234 wrote:My Resmed S9 Autoset finally kicked the bucket, so I "upgraded" to an Airsense 10 Autoset. Check all of your settings in the new machine and also list them in your profile. Sounds like the settings between the S9 and A10 are different.
And, as was also asked.......how did your S9 "kick the bucket"? Is it still under warranty?
The folks at: http://www.acbio.com do authorized factory repairs to ResMed and Philips/Respironics equipment.

If you can't get a smiley face for leaks even when masking up and you know it isn't leaking then I would look elsewhere in the circuit for potential leaks...like a gasket seal on the humidifier or lid not closed or something along those lines and also check the new hose to make sure it doesn't have a hole in it somewhere.
