In fact I'm convinced that people's staying engaged with him on this forum -- no matter how well intended -- is keeping him distracted and disinclined to seek the help he really needs and which no one here is in a position to provide. I have compassion for his suffering and I feel strongly that the most helpful thing all of us can do at this point is to draw the line, stop responding to all his posts, put an end to these dysfunctional circular dialogues, and hope that he will then turn his attention to getting the appropriate professional (medical and mental health) care.

I can't either. As I said earlier, the OP has started at least 40 threads containing more than 2000 posts. Probably at least 1000 posts are from people offering similar advice to similar questions over and over. Einstein's definition of insanity comes to mind, but I'm not sure who it applies to.

I suspect I'm going to regret this, but it won't be the first time I've done something stupid and regretted it.

Enchanter -- now that we've clarified that you are waiting on the DME to send you your equipment, you need to get your doctor involved. Your doctor will have needed to send a prescription to the DME (what you call healthcare) and once they get the prescription, they will contact you to get you set up.

If what you say is true and you're not getting a response from the DME, your doctor needs to contact them OR send your prescription to a different DME.

Switch gears and talk to your doctor's office.

Alright I'll call the doctors assistant again and just tell her. But it feels like Dejavu again. Even if and when I do this, people will still say that I'm not taking action, even though I keep on taking step after step. So that is the next step.

You asked why isn't my family getting involved. They just keep saying they don't know anything about the condition. It does hurt me inside, but they just make excuses and say that everyone has problems.

The problem is you keep on saying the same thing over and over again, without any change in your action. When people have given you the perfect advice, and all you do is say the same thing over and over again, multiple times, it really looks like you're not taking any action at all.

Multiple people, including me have told you to show up at the doctors and raise a stink. But instead, you continue to post about calling. What is the problem with going to the doctors and being face-to-face? If you showed as much tenacity in showing up at the doctor's office or the "healthcare" as you did posting tripe here, you'd have all your problems solved.

Here's the thing. With a few exceptions, NONE of us has had it easy. Many of us have had to struggle with our doctor, sleep center and/or DME.

I can say with 100% confidence that if *I* were acting as Enchanter's advocate, this would have been settled & done weeks ago. And I know that a lot of other people here feel the same way.

Either Enchanter is pulling our leg (which I'm still on the fence about) or he NEEDS someone to do this for him.

Enchanter, if what you say is true about your family, you need to get a friend to help you navigate this. You obviously are not capable of handling it on your own.

And for those of us that know how to get things done, it's incredibly frustrating to hear you SAY the same things over and over again and yet still be basically in the same place.

I have told enchanter exactly what he needs to do, step by step, multiple times. But, he never follows my or anyone else's instructions but instead keeps doing the same old things that don't work.

We do not seem have the ability to get through to him. His mind just doesn't appear to work like the rest of us. Why and what can be done about it? Damned if I know!

Enchanter didn't get anywhere on the other apnea support board either, so it's not us - it's him! I guess there are people who just can't be helped - sad, but true. Many, many people find help here - the forum is collectively very good at that.

We have done all that we can for enchanter. Until/unless enchanter takes action and follows the wise advice he's been given, nothing is going to change. The ball is in your court, enchanter - I'm tired of repeating myself.

I've been gone awhile, and it makes me really sad that Enchanter doesn't have a resolution yet. As a person who had similar problems getting started, I understand the frustration. The problem seems to be with Enchanter doing the same thing (phone calls) and getting no results.

Enchanter - It's been said before in this and may other threads.

Physically go to your primary doctor's office and get a copy of the prescription. You don't need an appointment. Just go talk to the receptionist and bring something to do, maybe a snack. Wait until you have your rx.

Once you have that, physically go to the office of your "healthcare" or "DME" or whomever is supposed to give you a machine and sit there with your prescription until you get a machine.

It shouldn't be that way but sometimes it is that way so do what you can. The phone game is getting you nowhere.
