Sudden increase in events

Post by karen773208 » Sat Jun 20, 2015 10:41 am

Hi all! Hope you are having a good day!
I just looked at my report for last night from MyAir, and my events were 7.4! I was shocked because they are usually between 0.6 and 2.5. Everything else showed ok, and my overall "score" was 98 out of 100. I am wondering if the "events" could be something besides apnea? I feel great...slept 8 hours without waking up so it doesn't make sense to me that they would be so high.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Hi Karen,

I'm not familar with the MyAir but I would not be worry for one night with higher AHI like yours now and then. But I would monitor my AHI every morning for a week or 2 and see if this higher AHI tendency keep showing more and more. If that's the case, I would look at a more advanced software like Sleepyhead, here's a link to the really helpfull infos made by Pugsy:

Sleephead show a lot more information and it would be easier to figure out what's wrong.

In 8 years of using CPAP, I have 3 or 4 instances where my AHI would jump from an average of less than 4 to something much higher for several nights. After a week or less it has gone back down. My sleep doctor didn't know what caused it.

Just wanted to let you all know that my events have returned to normal. Was apparently just a fluke to have that many in one night. I downloaded the Sleepyhead software, just need to get my sd card uploaded to it and see what I can see.
Thanks for the support!

I wouldn't worry about a random fluke "bad" night in terms of numbers. We all have them from time to time. I even have them pop up every now and then for no reason that I can see.
When I have them I usually just blame it on the aliens messing with me again. They get blamed for all the unexplained stuff that sometimes just happens or shows up on the reports.
Even after over 6 years on the machine the aliens still visit me every now and then.

Pugsy, I'm ok with blaming it on Aliens!

Yet another vote for "it just happens sometimes". Nothing to worry about unless it becomes a trend and then you might want to look deeper and try to figure out if anything has changed. Sometimes masks start to leak as they age, etc. but that will last more than a night or two.

It's great when people are interested and involved in their therapy and don't expect the doctors to take care of everything for them!
