Re: Getting Started and Startling the Doc
As someone about to start using a CPAP, this is definitely an inspiring story that motivates me to be as informed and empowered of a patient as I can be. Thank you for sharing! Yes, and it was similar comments from then-experienced members of this Forum which inspired ME to become an informed and e...

Re: My Sleep doc says EPR strictly a matter of personal preference
I'd say breathing is pretty much a comfort thing too. Maybe that is why insurance companies are so obnoxious about CPAPs

Re: Is AHI similar on Dreamstation vs Airsense 10?
I think the biggest factor in the difference in AHI between the brands is the different algorithms though. ResMed responds faster than Respironics. So if it were just me, I should go with the machine that produces the lower AHI. However, living with someone, I need to also consider the Partner Slee...

Re: Is AHI similar on Dreamstation vs Airsense 10?
Often people need more pressure with the Respironics auto adjusting mode than with the ResMed auto adjusting mode. I found that to be the case when I changed. I needed a minimum of 10 cm on the Respironics auto but I can get by quite nicely with 7 minimum on the ResMed (even with EPR of 3 thrown in...

Is AHI similar on Dreamstation vs Airsense 10?
I have been using the Dreamstation AutoCPAP for a couple of years to good effect (increasing the pressure on the Dreamstation from 6 to 8 did wonders, thanks, Pugsy and Palerider!). But was worried about the machine being slow to respond. Following many posts and recommendations here I got an Airsen...

Thank you so much! I was wondering about that.Dog Slobber wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 7:28 am
The extra mode is an algorithm marketed for women. It is a less aggressive response and when it senses a a set amount of apneas in a short time period will establish a new minimum pressure.

Re: Online Shop recommendations?
The Resmed machines have a 9 second delay in their response. This response delay is for coughs, yawns, ect… So... I assume you are referring to the reaction time the machine takes once it decides it's an event occurring. Sheriff Thanks, Sheriff. I think this is exactly what I am referring to. Below...

Online Shop recommendations?
I posted a little while ago about my issues with the Dreamstation not seeming to react to my disturbances. I got very helpful advice from Palerider, zonker and others. I set my base pressure from 6 to 8 and dropped about 0.5AHI. But looking at my charts, the Dreamstation simply seems to be not react...

Re: OSCAR Suggestions & Bug reporting
A trendline would be great in the overview. This can be achieved in various ways through either filtering, averaging or fitting. In effect, it would give an idea of whether things are getting better, worse or are stable by de-emphasizing daily variations. I currently export my data and do this in a ...

Re: How is possible to have a great night on paper and still feel like garbage?
Ok. Tonight I'll try setting 8-10 with EPR 2 Ramp only. Make it 8-12 I'd opt for 8-20, following the idea of letting the machine do what the machine is made to do. And this is the long haul. You will not stay healthy if you don't treat your apnea, but AHI is not the only thing that counts. Your AHI...

Re: need roach-proof bipap cover
Get this, thank me later. https://www.amazon.com/Advion-Cockroach-Bait-4-syringes-1-06/dp/B002Y2GNVM And don't use spray or other killing devices along with it. And don't kill them. I would try and avoid this on the inside of the machine to avoid inhaling it. Most pesticides are tested (somewhat) f...

they like a warm dark place. All electronics produce a bit of heat. I don't think its much the filth, but the nice cozy warm, dark and slightly moist place. Waterbugs are a totally different thing.

Re: What type of water do you use in your humidifier?
I generally like to use wet water. I have considered using dry water, but it is hard to find around here. I also thought about dehydrated water, but the instructions always suggest, just add water before using. So, I just settle for wet water most of the time. Just wondering whether you use distill...

thank you for that quote! Common sense indicates that this is such, but it is good to have it researched and shown. My favorite cpap ref now!palerider wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2019 9:04 pmOnce again, READ THIS: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16236866
