Bi-Flex
Bob, i have the Respironics Bi-PAP Pro2. If I get into the clinician's menu, I have the choice of setting it on either Bi-Flex or straight Bi-PAP. When it's set on Bi-PAP, my pressures alternate strictly between my inhale and exhale pressures. When it's on Bi-Flex, the pressures kind of wander aroun...

I started with the Breeze. Then I tried the Swift, the Activa, a couple of used masks that I traded the Activa for, then the IQ, the Aura, the Comfort Lite, the Infinity, and most recently the Nasal Aire II. So's that's about 10. I've wasted a lot of money, and I've been very frustrated with most of...

chest pains
I started experiencing the pains you talk about a few weeks after starting Bi-PAP, and they bothered me a lot, a whole lot. They would usually get better after I had been up for an hour or two. I did a lot of research on a number of sleep apnea forums, and I found that theses chest/back pains/achine...

Wireless would help tremendously. On my first test, I had no recorded leg movements. On the second test, for the titration, I told them that I didn't want the leg sensors, since I kept gettting tangled in the wires (I am a side sleeper with a pillow between my knees) and since they were unnecessary ...

Infinity
I get a good seal with the Infinity and it stays in all night for me, but I too find it painful compared to the Breeze. I hold onto it whenever I turn over, and I take it out very carefully in the morning, as it feels like it's peeling off the inside of my nose. In reality, it hasn't caused noseblee...

confused about altitude adjustment
I find this all very interesting, but I'm still quite confused. i think the manual for my Bi-PAP said it would automatically adjust up to 6000 feet, but the hospital where i was titrated was at 7500 feet and I live at 6500 feet. I'm currently on vacation at about 1000 feet and eventually plan to mov...

The kind of mask you use is not related to the severity of your apnea. If you can mostly keep your mouth closed while you're sleeping, you can probably use a nasal mask or nasal pillows. The nasal pillows are especially good for those of us with claustrophobia.

renting from local DME
I'm renting my Bi-PAP from my DME . My insurance pays 90% and I pay $15.78 a month. I was under the impression that after a certain number of months my insurance would convert this to a purchase and the machine would be mine. I was in my DME 's office getting filters the other day, and I asked about...

hair friendly interfaces
My current favorite is the Infinity HC481. It will not interfere with your hairdo, although I confess I changed the strap out for a flatter one. This interface might not be good for restless sleepers, and it took a little getting used to, but I really like it. It's the easiest to pack in a suitcase ...

I wash my nasal pillows daily, but that's not too hard. I use only distilled water in my humidifier . I empty it every day and then run it for about 15 minutes to dry everything out good, because I'm very sensitive to mold and I don't want to grow anything. I wash my other interface parts when I get...

The problem is not so much the Bi-PAP as the high pressure. A pressure of 20 is always going to be a lot louder and harder to get used to than a pressure of 8. But I agree that an autopap sounds like a good idea for you, since there's a good chance that you don't need a pressure of 20 all the time. ...

When the power went off, I awoke because the UPS started beeping, and because all the nightlights suddenly went off, and because the Bi-PAP, refrigerator, etc. suddenly went quiet. I do highly recommend that people buy an Uninterruptible Power Supply. Mine was about $45 and protects my Bi-PAP from s...
