The Aurora Colorado shooter drove past several movie theaters and hose the one in town that had a No Firearms sign posted. The other theaters all allow concealed carry. Coincidence? I doubt it.

Frankly, I'm more alarmed at Homeland Security's repeated purchases of enormous quantities of handgun ammunition than I am about teachers being allowed to carry in public schools. Yesterday DHS ordered another 20 million rounds of handgun ammunition. Were I suspicious of our government, I'd suspect they are anticipating some sort of civil unrest. Next, I'd wonder what might trigger civil unrest, and why the DHS might be preparing for it.

"While Americans are being browbeaten with rhetoric about the necessity to give up semi-automatic firearms in the name of preventing school shootings, the federal government is arming itself to the teeth with both ammunition and guns. Last September, the DHS purchased no less than 7,000 fully automatic assault rifles, labeling them 'Personal Defense Weapons.' "

The teachers would have to be "certified" but nobody would know who is packing heat and who isn't. Just the thought of a kid's kindergarten teacher having a gun who puts it in a drawer for a short break and another kid finds it. Yikes! Or more likely in inner city high schools, a bunch of thug students jumping a teacher to get his/her gun.

Will we have doctors and nurses carrying guns soon? Our VA hospital had a patient come with a shotgun and killed his doctor and then himself. Reminds of the movie "John Q". A father takes an entire hospital ER hostage because they won't do a heart transplant on his dying son.
-IMHO guns don't belong in schools. PERIOD. School systems could cure this by a one-entrance, one-exit, with scanners to ensure that guns do not get past the door. Sounds cold, sounds like it breaks fire dept rules, etc. But fire exits, with break-the-glass-to-get-out, would help to ensure that guns don't get in. If you don't have business in the school, then you should not be allowed in the school.

That's my opinion, we all have one.

I'm curious Jen, do you know how the Sandy Hook shooter got into the 'secure' school building?

Here's a video outlining the school's security.

That was apparently Sandy Hook's opinion, too. Works well until reality intervenes, huh?

If you follow the citation, it should lay your fears to rest. The source is Alex Jones, best known for arguing that the U.S. government was behind both the Oklahoma City bombing and 9/11. Of course, just because he finds it profitable to peddle absurd conspiracy theories doesn't make him wrong about the ammunition, but look at his documentation. The very first link in his article is to this solicitation. He claims that this is a solicitation for 21.6 million rounds, but it is clearly and obviously for 240,000 rounds. Check it out. Perhaps he hoped that if any of his readers followed the link, they wouldn't know that MX is the abbreviation used in federal contracting for lots of 1000. I assume he regularly uses the same trick, or similar tricks, to reach his fantastic totals, but I didn't try to follow all his links. Frankly, if someone with Jones's reputation as a nutter is dishonest with his first citation to evidence there isn't much reason to give him the benefit of the doubt. It smells of contempt for his readers and listeners, as if he knows he'll keep them interested if he can just stir up enough fear, facts be damned.

Whoa -- Va Tech did not involve an AK-47. Cho used two handguns. 32 innocent students and Profs were murdered, mostly because of "GUN FREE ZONE". That attracts the monsters like nothing else. If one of those students or professors had had a concealed gun, then maybe the death toll could have been greatly reduced. Maybe only one or two students killed instead of 32. But we'll never know, it is like trying to prove a negative.

Yup... that's the answer. Let's ALL go out and buy guns. When no one is looking we can slip one to our kids in case a mad man enters the school. In the meantime, we can teach them that using a gun will get you what you want. Didn't get enough ice cream in your cone... then shoot the teenager who didn't put in enough ice cream to your liking.

Then, since you're angry anyway, shoot the old person in the street who isn't walking fast enough to your liking. That will show her/him.

All good... doncha think.

A sign at the Marine Corps Scout Sniper School, Quantico reads " The average rounds expended per kill with the M-16 in Vietnam was 50,000. Sniper averaged 1.3 rounds. The cost difference was $2,300 vs. 27 cents." It only takes one well placed shot. My personal carry is a Sig p226 40 cal. Laser grips and weapons light. Total round count with 2 reloads is 37. I like my odds.

Get ready folks, violence at hospitals and other healthcare facilities will increase dramatically once healthcare decessions are taken away from families and their doctors by unelected healthcare boards more commonly known as death panels. Watching a loved one die rather then getting the proper treatment do to cost saving decesions made by an oppressive government panel will be to much for some to handle.

my teachers and principals had weapons at school....and made no effort to conceal it!!

They had wooden rulers with a metal edge.... they'd smack the heck out of your hands if you acted up.
