Cannot believe I did this...

Post by Gaga58 » Thu Sep 15, 2011 4:58 am

With taking care of my mother, who has dementia, it's rare for me to get a chance at a full nights sleep. Last night happened to be one night out of several that she did not get up during the night and I was able to sleep all the way through, BUT...when I woke up at 5 am this morning it was to find my mask beside me in pieces!!! I was using my blue gel nasal mask, the gel part was in the floor, the cushion on the coffee table (I sleep on the couch) and the rest laying beside me! I do not recall removing it, let alone tearing it apart!!!! I just could not believe I had did this in my sleep, let alone why I would have!! I've not had any problems doing my therapy, other than trying to adjust the mask for leaks, the machine doesn't bother me, I actually enjoy the idea of putting it on every evening and I always hope and pray for at least several hours, so why in the world would I have done this?!!

The night before Mom only got up once, so I had a nice 3 hour stint and then another 4 hour stint with my mask, slept like a log through both of them, felt halfway alive the next morning...was actually looking forward to checking my data for that night as I don't think I had any leaks that night at all...then to have this happen last night....soooo disappointed at a lost opportunity!! Has anyone else ever done this?

I had one night where I had taken my mask off and left it beside me with the machine still on, I have no memory whatsoever of doing this. I woke up about 2am and wonder why I could hear air hissing beside me and there was my mask and hose busily pumping out air, I scratched my head in puzzlement then put it back on and went back to sleep

Hey, the aliens just failed to clean up properly after the abduction last night. It probably won't happen again.

That is just totally strange. I've read other stories where folks just woke up and took the mask off. It hasn't happened to me yet (knocks on wood) and I hope it doesn't. It must be a strange feeling to wake up knowing you had completely disassembled the damned thing and have no memory of it.

I 'spose the subconscious mind knows this is not natural and just decides 'to hell with it'.
Thinking of quitting CPAP?

No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:

Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.

My husband's hose came off his mask last night, first time in 3 years. Luckily he was able to put it back on after a few seconds.

Go ahead and check your report. It will show you when the aliens came and messed with you.

Yet another advantage of having a CPAP and having the software. You have physical evidence of when the aliens abducted you. PRS1 machines actually have an "AA" event flag for Alien Abduction.

No, wait, I forgot. The aliens usually doctor the data on your data card so the missing time doesn't show up. Unless you have an S8 machine. The aliens can't get the card readers for them, either.

I wonder if CPAP data has ever been used in a crime investigation. Show when someone got out of bed, or show they were in bed all night. Or been used in a divorce case.

Could be some unresolved anger issues with using CPAP. You might want to ask your self when you woke up and saw your Mask strewn about, "how did this make you feel"?..

I woke up very uncomfortable the other night and a few pillows paid the price for it. Next morning found the pillows across the room and they didn't look happy. When I checked my report didn't see a category for Sleep Rage though.

I woke one morning with everything on the end of my bed. Don't remember a thing. Only happened once, thank goodness.

I used to do odd things in my sleep when stressed. When I was single and lived alone, I woke up about 3 a.m. to find that EVERY light in my apartment was turned on. I mean every single one, even ones I hardly ever used. At first I thought someone had broken in, but the chain was still on the front door and the dowel was holding the sliding door closed, all the windows were locked. I must have done it in my sleep. Very, very weird as I had absolutely NO memory of doing so and I was certain all the lights were off when I went to bed.

And one time in college, my roommate woke me(!) just as I was about to step into the shower. I'd made my bed and laid out all my clothes. It was 2 a.m.

You had a dream in which you were fighting the mask creature, and it lost. Seriously. Too bad you can't remember--must have been a doozy.

If your machine has a mask-off alarm, you should turn it on. It's nice to be alerted when the mask comes off or a hose pops off.

You should see the pictures we have of you!!! Just kidding...

Does your Mom have a dog or cat that may have pulled it off then thought it was a toy?

These PR S1 machines do have an alarm of sorts. I can't really call it much of an alarm. My long hose came off the short hose the other morning. I woke up to the faint "beep, beep, beep" of the alarm and machine was off. When checking my reports I saw that it had been off for about 20 minutes before the beeping woke me up. I had looked at the clock when I got up.

The alarm is not very loud at all.
