Wow this has some people thinking....I'm enjoying your posts too.

Hey Guest, don't despair. As long as there's breath there's hope (how appropriate on our cpap site! I was at least 10 pounds heavier than you when I started on the "this escalator going down" journey. I get the most help from my Rock, God, the Low Carb Retreat and LowcarbChristians website and believe it or not, just wanting to be able to say "no more bad reports and no more pressing me to be on meds" to my doctor.

I decided at one point that it is my responsibility to take care of this body which is NOT a curse but a GIFT from God who gave it to me to teach me things....like for example commitment and discipline and my own need for His strength in my weakness. Its been REAL, not always fun, but I'm learning a lot in the process. Namely that my goal is to feel healthy and energetic again. Anything beyond that is, dare I say it, the icing on the cake. LOL....Terry

Just thought I'd post again...

I bought a small notebook so that I can write down all of the food I am eating every day. I also wrote down 1-8 to signify how many glasses of water or sugar-free kool-aid I'm drinking--not much of a water drinker.

I also write in any physical exercise I've done during the day. Like today, I dug out a garden and pulled weeds and did some raking.

I started at a good 225 after my brain surgery. I am now down to 216

Hi Heidi,

If you were at 225 after surgery and now down to 216, you have done very well. By the time you read this it will probably be tomorrow and you must be aching all over with the garden dig and all.

You may have overdone it a little but it's great you did it!!! Just don't bitch about how sore you feel and keep up the happy smiling face. I understand smiling burns more calories than frowning so grin and bear it!

I was curious about your comment that you are not much of a water drinker. I never used to be much of a water drinker, well except for ice cubes in the ol R&C - I use lots of em, but now seem to slug the H2O back. Once lived in a city where the water looked and tasted like sludge - yep you and others may have guessed Regina, Saskatchewan. But that was long ago and now drink bottled water like an old man lusts for Viagra - did I spell that right? Always get my V's and N's mixed up.

Anyway, hope you and your water are OK today- no aches or pains. If you are feeling great I do have a few weeds to pull. Also I take a cute little water pill that drives me crazy - makes me piddle out more that I drink in - unless it's the damn ice cubes.

All the best and get tougher each day.

I like water, just not in the habit of making it a point to drink more. I generally drink a pot of coffee in the morning and then something with lunch, something with supper and then coffee at night..

I love ice water and iced decaf tea in the summertime...esp in this heat and humidity. I just pop some tea bags in a big pitcher and fill it w/hot water and leave it sit all night and in the morning its ready for some ice. Its so refreshing! Our water is smelly city water so we have a filter on the faucet which makes it smell and taste like just plain h2o...Did you ever think how lucky we are to be able to turn on the faucet and have as much clean water as we need? (well, can pay for, right?) When we visit Cuba they have times of day where there is no water to the house in certain parts of the island. My main water prob w/water is that I have to make myself remember to drink lots in the morning and early afternoon or I'm up taking my cpap tube apart to visit the bathroom many times through the night! Poor dh!!!! Now that my snoring doesn't get him up, my bathroom visits do, even if I try to be quiet leaving the room! T

How Fat Are You!

Terry, It is probably similar to yours, very restricted carbs, low fat, generous in protein and vegetables and fruit, sugar is allowed sparingly. In a lot of ways it is similar to Weight Watchers. I weigh in 3 times a week. There seems to be lots to eat and they gave me a really good cookbook using program foods. I like to cook in bulk so I want to make my own TV dinners in the prescribed amounts, particularly the entree foods so I will probably cook three times a week and save myself a lot less work at dinnertime. This works for me because I live alone and don't have to concern myself with cooking for anyone else or shopping for other family members. I am trying to walk for an hour early in the morning and also in the evening. My housework is suffering terribly from neglect. That's what happens when you put yourself first. If you like I will keep you posted on my progress. CareS

http://www.whfoods.com/eathealthy.php is really informative. Click on the "a-z" list at the left side of the screen and choose any food you want to check out. You'll feel good just reading the benefits your body gets from the foods you eat! Check out kiwi, blueberries, broccolli, eggplant...etc...Very good info. Terry

2 more pounds gone this morning and I've been eating so well! Enjoying the summer fruits especially....frozen green grapes, blueberries and sour cherries are so good in this hot weather.
