If you can get the leaks under control with the dreamwear, it may work for you.

Re: Newbie here, just want to some help and encouragement
I have been through at least one. Didn't know there was another. Let me check them out.
Edit: I went on Youtube and search for fitting guides, and I have seen them all. I don't know what else to do.

Re: Newbie here, just want to some help and encouragement
I was using the Airfit F20 full-face mask and had leaks with it. Not big leaks, but enough to be bothersome. I switched to the Airtouch F20 with the memory foam edge and it was a game changer. No more leaks and I'm a side sleeper. I also purchased a gel strip that goes on the bridge of my nose to help prevent leaks there. It's called a CPAP Boomerang Gel Pad and can be found on Amazon. Not saying it works for everyone, but because you mentioned the Airtouch F20, I thought I would throw my two cents behind it.

Re: Newbie here, just want to some help and encouragement
Thanks! I wore the Airtouch F20 last night, and it was mixed results. It’s better than the Airfit, but still doesn’t seems to be my ideal mask. At this point, who the heck knows what my ideal mask is. This hasn’t been a fun experience at all.Skete211 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2019 7:58 pmI was using the Airfit F20 full-face mask and had leaks with it. Not big leaks, but enough to be bothersome. Re: Newbie here, just want to some help and encouragement
Night 3 in of OSCAR, and still looking at about 3 1/2 hours of sleep. So last night I started off with the Airtouch F20. No leaks when I fell asleep, and I started the pressure at my prescribed amount of 13 to make sure there were no leaks. Turned on the ramp feature after that starting the pressure at 8 for that. Fell asleep, but remember waking up an hour later to leaks and got tired of it and could not fix it and took the mask off. Woke up again at 3:30 and put the Dreamware FFM med size on to try. Never could get that fix right, so went back to the F20 for the rest of the night. At this point I am at a loss. I have gotten some Rezzz pads I think is what they are called to fit on the Dreamware FFM, so I will be testing those. Thought to this point nothing has worked. I am more tired than I was before going on CPAP therapy. I am starting to lose hope that I will ever find a full nights sleep. Just to document, here is the OSCAR result for last night.

Re: Newbie here, just want to some help and encouragement
New night, and new settings. I got into the setting and set the auto CPAP on, with the min being 8 and the max being what the doc set to 13. To me it likes like 13 is waking me up and is to high, but also that 8 and 9 are too low and I have events. Is this what it looks like to anyone else? Every time it got anywhere near 13 I took the mask off in my sleep. Any insight would be great!

Re: Newbie here, just want to some help and encouragement
Everyone tends to blame the pressures for waking them up.
Ever wonder why the pressure went up in the first place? There is a reason for the increase. Some sort of airway collapse caused the pressure to go up in the first place and the increase in pressure is the machine trying to prevent further collapse.
Maybe it was the apnea events or collapsing of the airway that caused the wake up????? Just a thought.
Why the increase need? Either supine sleeping or REM stage sleep most likely.

Yup, I was going to post just that.
Breathing events cause the pressure to go up.
Breathing events disturb your sleep. (If they didn't, none of us would be here, right?)
Some breathing problem, plus being more rested because of CPAP, plus the extra stimulation of the CPAP means you wake up more because of the breathing events... And become aware of being awakened.
Raise the minimum pressure.

Re: Newbie here, just want to some help and encouragement
Ok so raise the min pressure tonight. I have been having trouble with waking up this entire time, and Originally had the machine set to fixed 13 pressure and was waking up. My belief is the leaks wake me.

Leaks can do that, so work on mask fitting at the higher pressures.Brounmoney wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2019 9:23 amOk so raise the min pressure tonight. Finding the right mask is one of the hard to help with problems in getting into CPAP... I can help lower your ahi.... But not help you find a mask, unfortunately... Even telling you what I use, or don't like is of very limited utility...Brounmoney wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2019 9:50 amI am thinking I don’t have the right mask. Oh I completely agree, and appreciate all your help! Yeah the mask fitting has been the biggest struggle. I really want to find the F30 to try it.palerider wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2019 10:01 amFinding the right mask is one of the hard to help with problems in getting into CPAP... Re: Newbie here, just want to some help and encouragement
I have high pressures. I started out with the dreamwear, then tried the f30. I really wanted to like it but like the dreamwear, the leaks were awful. Then I wanted to try the amara view, never did find one. Pugsy convinced me to try a nasal mask. Omg what a difference! I still get the occasional leak but no awful farting noises from my mask. The pressure all going into my nose keeps my nasal passages open so I don't breath through my mouth. As a longtime mouth breather I would never have believed it would work, until it did. She turned this skeptic into an avid supporter of the nasal masks. You can turn your dreamwear into a nasal mask with just a different cushion and headgear both can be found inexpensively on Amazon.
