Have extra machine. Want to sell.
Hello everyone. I just found this site today, accidentally actually, because I was looking online to see if there was anyone out there who would want to buy my BiPAP machine. (But now that I've found you, I'm going to come here often! ) Anyway, my first doctor, after having me do my 1st sleep study, prescribed me a BiPAP Auto machine, which I tried to use for about 3 months, but kept waking up each night and instinctually ripping the mask off because it felt like I was being suffocated. So I just completly stopped using it altogether, for about 6 months. Then one day, after hearing of someone dying of sleep apnea , I decided to go see a doctor about it again. (By this time, I had moved to another town, so the new doctor had me go do another sleep study. ) This doctor, however, said he didn't believe I needed a BiPAP, and instead prescribed me a CPAP (which I'm having the exact same "suffocation" problem with again . And have another appt. scheduled to see the doctor yet again to discuss possible options.) But now I have this barely used BiPAP machine that I apparently wont be needing anymore. SO IF ANYBODY OUT THERE NEEDS A BiPAP AUTO (RESPIRONICS) MACHINE, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

Which model? There are at least 3 different BiPap Auto models that have been released in the past few years.
Model name, age, hours of use are pretty critical to someone who might want to buy it.
When did you first get it...that would be a sort of clue as to which model it might be.
There's a model number on the bottom of the blower unit.
If you want to sell something...we need a lot more information please.
Suffocation issues?
Are you using the ramp feature?
What pressure are you using?
What mask?
Suffocation when you first put the mask on or later?

Your Bi-PAP can be set to run in CPAP mode. If you have a CPAP machine, you now have a backup machine with the Bi-PAP.machinezen wrote:Hello everyone. Your suffocation issues are more than likely due to improperly configured machines, wrong masks and/or excessive humidity. And THOSE are not good reasons to give up on therapy.

Sorry about that! Duh... Its a Respironics BiPAP Auto M-Series (Model#1051158). It has a heated humidifier. I got it in Nov. 2009. Havnt used the machine in 3 years. Like I said, I was prescribed a new machine. A ResMed S9 Autoset, which Im suppose to be using now, but again, still waking up suffocating. Honestly, I dont even know what the Resironics machine is worth... Anybody got an idea?

It would be better to first figure out the usage issues so that you can know for sure which machine you really need. It would be a shame to sell the bipap and then find out later that you really do need it.
So, how about you tell us what pressure settings you currently have and what was prescribed before. Are you using ramp? Which mask. What humidifier settings. Do you feel suffocated right away or after awhile?
Can you tell us why the first doctor wanted bipap and the second doctor wanted regular apap? Do you have a summary of each sleep study? That information may explain why you have two different machines and which one might be better for you.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
Re: Have extra machine. Want to sell.
The M Series is 3 models behind new model now...it isn't worth nearly what you likely paid for it or what your insurance paid.
It would make a better backup machine for you. I would keep it as a backup...like Den said, it has a straight cpap mode available if that works best for you.
What pressure(s) are you using with the S9 Autoset machine? Using ramp?
Suffocating all night or just when first starting up the machine?
Have you evaluated your therapy to see if it is even effective?
Do you want help with your current issues or do you just want to sell a machine?
If you want help....start with this

and go get SleepyHead software and let's see what is going on with your current treatment.
I know someone in need of a BiPap Auto but the M series won't work for them.
