sleepyhead 9.3 update

Post by Denial Dave » Fri May 31, 2013 6:42 pm

I see that jedimark posted an upgrade on sourceforge site on May 17th......for some reason, my system checked for upgrades, but never downloaded it....

I can't seem to find out any information on what has changed....

anyone know what's changed or if there are any precautions to be taken before upgrading?

Dave

My understanding was that the new 9.3 released on the 17th was a full install version and not just an update.
In the past totally new versions were simply totally new versions..this one just happens to have the 60 series Patch stuff already included.
I haven't tried this new 9.3 version yet. Not had the time.
When I do I will rename the old version and just keep it and then install the newest version.
I think I can make a copy of the old data folder so that nothing is lost but I haven't confirmed it yet. It worked in the past.

So this latest 9.3 version is a full install and not just an update (though it likely contains some bug fixes that Mark was working on) and thus it isn't really a typical "update"...it's pretty much a new stand alone version of what we got when we did the prior updates to original 9.1 to 9.2-1 and then with the Patch to 9.3.

I just installed it the other day and it's a full version. Works fine.

Unless I'm missing something, when I go to SourceForge, the SleepyHead file that is available to download is the 0.9.1 file. No other file comes up.

Then new file is there but not in the spot where we see "looking for latest version" message.
At this link http://sourceforge.net/projects/sleepyhead/files/
Dated May 19, 2013 ...this is the newest complete version.

Since it is an exe file, does that mean the new version of sleepyhead is only for pc computers, not macs?

Yes. This is the Windows version.
I read on another thread that the new Mac build isn't ready ready. Some problems about something that I didn't know what it was with the Mac OS stuff. So not yet for Mac users.

Thanks, Pugsy! I'll install this today. I've always gotten an error message upon closing earlier versions (although it doesn't seem to affect the operation of the program); we'll see if this particular bug has been stomped!

Which thread was that? Were there problems with the Mac build of 0.9.3 that I linked to?

Has anyone tried installing over the top of the old one?

I just did. it worked for me, I checked "About Sleepyhead" and it has the May 18 build date.

It installed with no problems, didn't have to uninstall previous version.

Rich mentioned it here.

For Mac users, Mark has been having issues with getting the newest version to work on more recent OSX versions so that is still a work in progress. He intends to get that out once he fixes the issues.

after backing up my data, I did the install last night..

no major issues, it installed great and did not mess with my data at all

but I experienced 2 minor issues;

#1 the new version totally screwed up all of the chart fonts...some went to a font size of 36 or higher with a weird script. I think I have them back to readable again.

#2 I lost the sleepyhead icon for the desktop that came with the earlier patchdownload.

I had the same problem with the fonts (didn't lose the icon, though). What did you do to fix the fonts? I make changes in the preferences, but it always reverts back.
