Software

Post by johnmtaylor » Wed Apr 24, 2013 1:37 pm

I keep hearing about software for self monitoring. My DME didn't tell me anything about it. Can I download software and use my card reader on my laptop to check the info or is this locked? Most of the functions on my machine were locked out.

Btw. I've only been using it this week. Sleep study showed AHI of 83. 1st two nights got at least 6 hrs sleep and I do feel better.

What model machine do you have?
If you are unsure just look on the bottom of the blower unit for a 3 digit number which may have REF or DS in front of it.
Tell us the model number and we will point you to the software if your machine has the data available.
Sometimes people have machines that only collect hours of use on that little SD card.

Once you figure out exactly which model you have you can go to this place and request the clinical/provider manual that explains how to get past those locks that have been put in front of you.

I use SleepyHead myself. It is a free download. It's not perfect but gives you all the important stuff to monitor: AHI, event data, leaks, pressure, respiratory rate, etc. It can also generate reports that you can post here for free expert advice. Believe me, you will get more solid advice on your therapy on this forum than from any DME or doctor. This group has seen and done it all!

Huh. What a surprise ... a DME that wants total control and "doesn't know" about software.

Unfortunately, as you can tell, that isn't a total surprise at all. I highly approve of taking control of one's data. You are you're own best advocate ... you have some skin in the game, after all. ALL of the skin!

My machine is respironics Bipap autoSV advanced system one. Don't know why it didn't show up in signature.

Many of us on the forum use an open source program called Sleepyhead. You can download it here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/sleepyhead/

Here are some helpful links to get you started learning how to use Sleepyhead:

Some of the links in the equipment profile menu are broken for some reason.
Just add it manually to your comments section like I have my extra machine.

SleepyHead sometimes doesn't play nice with your model machine. If you have a problem with it or you want to try EncoreBasic just send me a private message (please tell me the OS of your computer because if you have Windows 8 we have to do something different) and we will get you a different software.

EncoreGuide link this will show you examples of what you will see with Encore. SleepyHead has been iffy for some of the PR S1 ASV machines...don't know why...so just wanted to warn you.
