I took a chance buying my Autoset a mere 9 months after starting with the Elite.
Although the Elite worked for me then, I now know I would have trouble if I had to use it again.
The Autoset's flexibility in pressure is wonderful for me, and if it hadn't been,
I could have used it in cpap mode, with occasional pressure checks.

With an AHI that low...yep, I would think you probably have probably more than 1 cm room to reduce the pressure.
You are probably seeing minimal hyponeas with an AHI less than 1 like you are seeing. What are your current settings on your BiPap? Fixed mode or auto adjusting?
I use fixed mode-actually I just got a brand new machine yesterday (DME replaced my current one due to issues) and they set the pressure at 22 for EPAP. I'm going to try reducing it to 19 tonight and increased my IPAP to 16 since it's set at 15 now. I don't use auto adjust because I did poorly on it during my study. I'm not sure I can change that setting?

EPAP is the lower number...IPAP is the higher number.
EPAP...exhale pressure
IPAP ...inhale pressure.

Which setting are you unsure about how to change?
You will need to factor in your Pressure Support number...and I think there is a minimum and maximum you can set.
If you want 16 for the lower EPAP and 19 for the higher IPAP I don't know what your PS choices will be but it can't be more than 3 with fixed pressures.

Right now my IPAP is set at 22 and my AHI is low like .07 last night.
MY EPAP is set at 15.

I'm on Bi-Flex 2 setting.

Sorry I confused myself with the EPAP/IPAP stuff.

I think I could lower my IPAP pressure down to 19 or 20 since my AHI is so low. Leave my EPAP where it is and leave my Bi-Flex 2 setting.

Am I wrong about my thinking?

I'm still fairly new to changing settings so I want to makes sure I'm logical in my thinking.

No, not wrong...you had me confused when you mentioned you didn't know you could change that setting...It wasn't clear to me if you were asking how to do it or what to do to change it or if it could be done. You know the mechanics of actually doing it.

I would suggest one change at a time so you can monitor the results...that way you have a better chance of knowing what change caused what result if any.

I would leave EPAP alone right now. It will be more comfortable using 15/19 or 20 instead of 16/19 or 20 especially since you are using 15/22 right now.

Reply,

I am surprised that you can't figure it out. The prevalence ratio of SDB sufferers in the population between men and women is 5 to one. But for some reasons, on this board it's the other way around. So I put the extra percentages of ladies on my ignore list to even out this discrepancy and be statistically correct. Ask JNK if it does not make sense and fair to be done in a community .

I'm surprised that even you would try to push that load off as a reason why you behave the way you do. Anyone that has watched you on this forum knows that's a load of crap.

No, the most likely explanation (assuming you're not just doing it for kicks - which IS a possibility) is that you despise any woman with a brain and go out of your way to try to make her look foolish, but in the end -- it backfires on you.

Most of the women here have brains (just the fact they come here) and you can't stand that.

I took it down to 20 with only one Hypopnea. However, my snoring went up but it could be because I have a cold and the machine is registering my coughing as a snoring event.

Not really sure.

Thoughts on if I should increase my pressure back up.

I wouldn't just yet. The machine is easily fooled sometimes into thinking something else is snores and even if it were real snores I think that it would be an EPAP issue and not because if the small IPAP reduction.
I imagine the cold symptoms are playing a factor here.
Did you ever read about me and my machine and my pug dog snores?
You know little pug dogs snore something fierce. Well I kept seeing these long bands of snores and wondering what the heck is going on..then one night I realized that when my little pug slept up on the pillow with his chin on my shoulder next to my neck I always had large snore bands...
It was sensing the vibration or hearing his snores some how or other.
I only have these when he sleeps up by my head resting his little chin on my neck or next to my neck.
Coughing or just plain cruddy breathing with the upper respiratory infection could easily fool the machine.

If it concerns you then you might change it back and wait till you are over the cold symptoms before trying again...

Here is one example I had with my little Pug dog snores.

I thought I would give it a few more days at the lower pressure. It felt great last night and I slept 6 hours without waking to go to the bathroom then slept another 3. I have COPD which could come into play too.

I'm going to track it over the next several days both in encore and sleepyhead-- I sleep on my side but had slipped onto my back sometime during the night which could also have attributed.

I'll update again once I have a better idea.

Quick follow up. Last night I changed the pressures on the PR S1 BiPap Pro 660 to 10 EPAP and 14 IPAP.
Short night because of pain issues unrelated to OSA. Just a really bad night.
Looking forward to the heated hose upgrade kit...maybe tomorrow it will arrive. Last night I had a bit of rain out drip out the vent holes onto my cheek when I turned over onto my side. It turned off cold last night and rainy and conditions were ripe for condensation in the mask.

Anyway...AHI 0.0 That's about the only way I ever get the 0.0...short night but I will take it.
So here is the report and I also included a zoom in on the PB flagged time. Totally unexciting PB..minor waxing and waning of the flow. 2 lousy snores... 3 1/2 hours of sleep...my crystal ball says I likely will be taking a nap shortly.
