S9 here...no manual...Please Help

Post by preemiern » Fri Mar 05, 2010 12:41 pm

Does anybody know about a clinical manual for the S9 machine itself? I didn't get one, and CPAP.com claims resmed didn't ship them. Is there a link to an online one? I have the manual for the software, but want to know how to get into the clinical menu in my shiny new machine
Resmed...if you are lurking...WE WILL GET OUR HANDS ON IT!!!!! So you may as well share....after all, we chose to purchase your machine and not the competition and most of us here know way more than the DME's anyway about our therapy and about sleep apnea

This is from the link I followed to the machine in your profile:

https://5faacd0c97cf0d23c6dc-064f3cd61b ... -guide.pdf

It doesn't look like it would be too hard to figure out how to get into it.

But, no, I haven't seen (yet) a manual for it in .pdf form.

From this thread:
viewtopic/t49847/S9-Reviews.html

ResMed S9 AutoSet & Elite: Plug in machine and turn the Push Dial until the device is showing the Home position (Home Icon illuminated). In Home position, press the Push Dial and the Setup Menu buttons down simultaneously for 3 seconds. The clinician menu will appear. Select parameter(s) you wish to modify with the Push Dial (push down to select, turn to modify). When done, select the <<home choice from the displayed menu and the adjustment is saved.

Thank you both!! I haven't even actually taken the machine out of the case yet...I have both of my grandchildren here, and they are 2 1/2 and 2 years old. I am waiting until their naptime to take it out and look at it....I want to savor the moment

My room is clean from top to bottom, my sheets and comforters are all washed, rearranged my room, bought a new lampshade for my bedside lamp, my shiny new machine is on the stand all set up and ready to go, I'm showered and in my fuzzy jammies...life is so sweet and I can't wait to go to bed with my new machine!!

That is great. I am new to this forum, but I am a Respiratory Therapist and have been setting up CPAPs for about 10 years. I am learning as much about sleep apnea now after reading users posts than going through respiratory school. I will be telling my patients to come here from now on so they can get the support from fellow users. Keep it up.

Please do tell them about this sight...
I believe this forum has helped many people adapt to this therapy that otherwise may have given up long ago. It's great that you are here and are learning all you can!! Do you also use CPAP?

Well no. I have a CPAP machine and anytime there is a new mask, I will snag one and bring it home to try. At least that way I can form my own opinion and don't have to rely on the marketing reps. I tried the Swift FX last week and it is the most comfortable yet.

If you're interested, the same way you get the "big" setup menu with setup+big button pressed for 3 secs, you get the detailed report by pressing info+setup for 3 secs. To me it's really dumb to prevent the patient from seeing the information even if you want to protect them from changing the setup, especially when it's so easy to find out ... Anyway, I hope this helps !

Sounds like the "Review" menu on the S8 -- a menu of quite detailed info, mentioned in the S8 manual, that is there so the DME or doctor can instruct a patient on the phone go into it and report what they see.

I hope I'm right, because I did think it made no sense for ResMed to leave that nifty option off the new machine.

If somebody tells me how to post pictures I have 2 of the "full" sleep report. Meanwhile on this, aside from hours, you can see: Pressure, Leak, AHI, Total AI, and Central AI. I assume central AI is events associated with central apnae. I'd rather have the software to get everything, but it's better than the basic menu ... Have a nice night !
