Going CAMPING with CPAP This Summer!

So, our campground does not have any electrical access... what does one do for a CPAP machine when camping in a camper/campground without electricity for 5 days? I've seen a battery pack for $349! Any other options?

Yes, you can build your own, get a computer UPS, get a gasoline or diesel powered generator, run the machine directly from the battery in your vehicle, run it from an inverter attached to the battery, or train hamsters to spin a generator in shifts. Some machines are pickier than others about where their electricity comes from, though. Which flow generator do you have, and do you use a heated humidifier?

You'll need to look at your machine and the manual and perhaps other sources to see what it is intended to operate from and what adapters/power cords may be needed. For example, a Remstar Classic has both and AC and DC socket on the machine, and Respironics sold a DC power cord for it (looks like just a filter cord, of course with plug to fit the machine and plug to fit the cigarette lighter in a vehicel.

This has been discussed quite a bit here on the forum, but each brand and series of machines is different. Please fill in your profile info in the User Control Panel and put your machine info there in text. That way we know best which way to direct you to the various options available. What works great for one machine can kill another one.

I've been digging into this topic for the past few weeks. After pricing out the battery and recharging options, I've decided it's cheaper for me to find a campground with electricity. That way I can use my humidifier too. Going hunting in three weeks. I'll get up early from my electric camp site and drive into my hunting spot after a good night's sleep.

Does have advantage of running CPAP with humidifier plus a small warming heater if you want.
