Strapparatus Headgear ?

I did read the above links and found it interesting enough. Maybe he HAS given up on our reviews and is going forward without consideration of us more pro-active users such as we are. That of course is a big mistake but......

Well, there are some serious questions about the design premise that keep cropping up again and again. I'm not sure if those valid points are being addressed or summarily dismissed in hopes of finding consumer views that match product aspirations.

That is my opinion... I did just send him an email suggesting he read this thread! We shall see!

He is going to have problems as he comes across more and more of us who are so pro-active about out care. It is not wise to ignore us as this board continues to grow and grow with people who don't just slap on the gear and go for it without any questions...

I also trialed the Strapparatus Headgear. It's only been a couple of weeks, so I can't say anything about durability, but....

Pros
1. Less confining feeling that the "normal" headgear - only one band at the back of the head. Overall, more comfortable to me because of this
2. I didn't get the heat/sweat buildup under the straps like I do with neoprene
3. I was able to get it to seal my mask better than the older headgear I have - did not test it against a new set, though.

Cons
1. the velcro used to tighten the mask is very stiff and the ends need to be tapered. I would work better with a softer brand or with sewn in padding to reduce skin irritation where it contacts the the cheeks.
2. measuring for the correct fit definitely needs a picture guide to get it right - I screwed mine up too and am waiting on a longer piece.

Overall, It has potential to be a good headgear system. It's definitely not a one size fits all piece of equipment, and I could see where certain face types (round, like mine) could have a comfort issue. If the new piece fixes my one issue with the headgear, I will use it over the headgear that came with my mask

Like all other xPAP equipment, some will love it, some will hate it.

EDIT: My issue with the product is the same a Bev's - the tube hitting in an uncomfortable place at the top of the ear. Didn't have the slippage problem, though.

Overall, I would say that I mostly agree with your assessment.
I do think the inventor REALLY means well with this product, and I think with a couple of refinements has the potential to be a very good piece of equipment for some cpap users.

Now that every CPAPTALK.COM yahoo wants to offer opinions on Respiratory Therapists, and degrade innovations that improve therapy to any degree here are some positive comments on Lincare.
Lincare's Product Manager, Mr. D'Arezzo, offered to list this medical product on the supply list for DME's in the South Carolina and North Carolina territory...
I'm not in the business of making sure you don't have marks on your face, or trying to fit your headstrap over the internet to get positive feedback when your business is to put my business down as frequently and with as much passion as I've tried to build it with.

It's official. We're yahoos. If the device doesn't work, or he's not interested in getting feedback from people who actually might pay for something useless, doesn't it behoove those yahoos who have tried it to enlighten Mr. D'Arezzo about the truths the purveyor is glossing over? No thanks - I will go back to using underwear elastic so graciously modeled by Teddy. The price is right.

That's true. His karma will run over his dogma. If we resort to character assassination, it makes us no better than he is. Plus - it's just not worth the energy. Let him stew in the soup of his own making. Serves him right.
