Instructions for telling EP 1.6 not to erase data

Post by ablong » Mon Jul 16, 2007 7:05 pm

Can anyone point me to info on how to prevent
ep-1.6 from clearing data from card. It has a erase feature
which i did not ask to erase. But when I used a dummy pat
name it could not find data on card.

thanks Allen

Glad you found it, Allen.

For others who might need the info:

If a doctor or RT or DME (durable medical equipment -- home health care store) expects to do a download of your Respironics Smart Card in the future, you should know this:

If you install Encore Pro on your own computer and want to do downloads of your Smart Card yourself before the doctor or DME will be downloading it, you need to change a setting in Encore Pro so that it will not erase your card each time you do a download at home.

The normal action (default action) of Encore Pro is to erase the data off the card each time a download is done. To make Encore Pro leave the data on the card so that the doctor or DME can see all the data later (and not even see any indication that you have been doing your own downloads) here's how to change the setting in your Encore Pro program on your computer:

_______________________________________________

Encore Pro version 1.8

On the Home page of Encore Pro there is a Preference option at the top of the page.
In the Preference option drop down menu, there is a system setting option. On the Systems setting page there is an option to "Keep Compliance Data on SmartCard after Download." Click to put a checkmark to turn that option on.

________________________________________________

Encore Pro versions earlier than 1.8

In your computer, go into the folder called:
C:\Program Files\Respironics\Encore Pro\Utilities

Note: If you don't know how to go to that folder, do a "search" in your computer for a file with these words: don't erase

Look for the file named:
"Don't erase Data After download.reg"

Double-click the "Don't erase" file.

Click "ok" when it asks if you're sure you want to make a change to the system registry.

From then on, when you do your Smart Card downloads in Encore Pro you'll be asked if you want to erase the card. If you choose to not erase the card, the data will remain intact on the card after the download.

Thanks RG for your usual very good advice.
I notice the difference from 1.6 to 1.8
I do not have a copy of 1.8 but may in future. I will copy this
to a file to save for in the future.

Many thanks

Allen

Okay

Answer this question, why when I download my smart card, when I put it back in my M series Auto Bipap, does my machine start beeping and the lights flash. And to get it to stop doing this I have to erase the data off the card.

But when I read the smart card from my Remstar Pro2 I have no problem doing that downlaod, it works fine.

Any Ideas?

Patrick,
It doesn't happen on mine... so maybe it's something particular to either an M or your particular machine.
