Hi everybody,
I recently bought an external humidifier because my extreme need for humidity was not being met by the PR System One Humidifier.
I bought this model: HC150 Heated Humidifier from cpap.com. The problem is that I'm having even more rainout than I was before. I want to buy a heated hose but I seem to have only two options:
The Sleep Zone hose: http://www.sleepzone.com.au/8997/SleepZ ... 8/product/
and the Hybernite hose: https://www.cpap.com/productpage/hybern ... eviews#tab
Neither of these hoses seem to give the user any control over the temperate of the hose line. Are there any options that do? Do I have any other options than these two products?
Thanks!

Re: Universal Heated Hose Recommendations
I don't know of any other heated hose options than these 2 and none that allow for temperature control beyond being on or off.
Some people in the past have mentioned making their own heated hose using reptile heater cable and attaching a rheostat of sorts but that was before my time here so I don't know how successful they may have been.
You might do a forum search for reptile heater cable and see what turns up.
Beyond a nice Padacheek hose cozy to help insulate the hose the only other thing I can think of is to simply warm up the bedroom air so that it doesn't condense in the hose or mask due to cooling effects from cool bedroom air.

Re: Universal Heated Hose Recommendations
I have the combination of the Respironics heated humidifier and the HC150 humidifier.
Things that you need to explore"
1. Make sure that the regular CPAP hose is well insulated. I have two wraps on mine, a hose cozy and a layer of fleece on top.
2. Make sure that the short, on-mask hose is well insulated as well, I use two layers of fleece.
3. Make sure that the short hose connecting the HC150 is also well insulated, I use two layers of fleece and thinking about four.
4. Set the humidity level on the PR humidifier at either 3 or 4.
5. Set the humidity on the HC150 to 2.5 (turned barely on).
6. Turn on the HC150 about one hour before bedtime to get it preheated.
7. The HC150 tank doesn't need to be insulated although it wouldn't hurt anything.
I use fleece fabric from the fabric store to make wraps for the hoses and use Velcro strips to hold the fleece around the hoses.
The combination of a high number in the PR humidifier and on the HC150 guarantees rainout.
You will have to experiment with particular values for your environment but the suggested ones are a good place to start.

Re: Universal Heated Hose Recommendations
I love my Aussie heated hose, keeps away the "ice cube nose". But would sure like to find an on/off switch that would work with it beside the power strip - the strip does not work conveniently for my arrangement. Anybody use another type of switch?

Re: Universal Heated Hose Recommendations
For several years I have used a heavy insulated hosecover from one of the on-line CPAP suppliers . It has been very satisfactory, and its cost was maybe Fifteen or so dollars. I have always operated my humidifier at a pretty high level, and consume about 10-12 ounces of water nightly. The cover never wears out, and I use just the standard 22 mm hoses. Since beginning use I do not experience rainout and really prefer this to any of the heated hose options.
