AHI from 1.5 to 28

Post by Catlizg » Thu Jul 03, 2014 1:28 am

I do not have the detailed breakdown on my AHI, but simply put, on straight CPAP pressure of 6 using Respironics 460 CPAP machine I consistently ranged from 0.8 to 2 for 10 weeks (same results on m titrationjP
LPNLN". Switched to with Respironics 560 APAP using straight CPAP mode of 6 and first night AHI jumped to 28. What on earth is going on? Am going to download Sleepyhead, but in the meantime is there any possible explanation? All other variables, i.e., mask, weight, identical.

Without the AHI details before and after anything would be complete speculation.
So ... on the SleepyHead and some data.

One thing to check for in terms of differences is Ramp. Is that value different between the two machines?
How about humidity settings?
As Pugsy sometimes remarks, perhaps a short visit from the aliens?

I vote for the aliens. But, now that you mention it, humidity might be the key. I had serious issues with the 460 humidity: one machine had no humidification no matter the setting, loaner was fine, replacement damn near drowned me. DME switched me to 560 with heated hose and I find the machine much more comfortable. Also, I used both the Swift Bella and Airfit P10 pillows with all the machines. Periodically the P10 seems to be a little more difficult to use on inhalation so on a whim last night I switched masks. The AHI dropped from 28 to 7. Those stupid aliens. Here I was going to have a welcome party and they're fooling around with my equipment.
