A few thoughts:

-Congratulations on finally finding some better sleep
-using Xanax as a sleep aid is a little controversial
-melatonin can cause sleep problems for some people, even after initial success
-presumably your sleep study showed no limb movement disorders
-some ADHD patients paradoxically sleep better taking a stimulant before bed
-consider reading up on (avoiding) blue light at night theory

I had a sleep study with negative results at the age of 21. I clung to that negative result for years, but finally gave and agreed to another sleep study after my father (who had also been on CPAP and had surgery for his apnea) died in his sleep of a stroke. Yes, it it possible. Very possible.

As previously stated, for a subset of people with ADHD this isn't a myth. I'm a physician. We are each welcome to our own opinions.

I am brand new to the CPAP world and am scared @#%%@less wondering if I will ever sleep "normally" again!
I had a home sleep test because I couldn't fall asleep and my wife had always told me that I snored loudly, in fact I have been told that I snore loudly since I was 22, I am now 57. I hooked up the nasal only piece and the first night was okay, I felt like I had some decent sleep, but after that I got a sinus infection and didn't use the machine for a week. Tonight I haven't slept yet, when I put the nasal piece on I either freak out due to the claustrophobia or I quit breathing even with the air flowing. Any ideas?
Also I can't sleep without the unit because I quit breathing and wake myself up.
thank you!

HI Tim57,

Please start your own thread as it will just make thing easier. And when you do, if you could use the link in my signature to fill out your equipment profile, that would help members better tailor their responses to your situation.

And when you start your own thread, we also need information on what was the result of your home test and what pressures were prescribed. Thanks!
