Importing data to Sleepyhead
Importing data to Sleepyhead
Totaly newb here. Sorry if this is a stupid question.
I just plugged my SD card into my computer, and when I go to import and select the SD card from my directory, I get the following error: "Couldn't find any new machine data at the locations given."
What am I doing wrong?

Re: Importing data to Sleepyhead
First thing to check: Is Sleep Quality set to ON in the clinical menu for your machine? If you don't know what I'm talking about, then tell me what information you see when you look at the machine's Sleep Quality Report in the morning. Do you only see usage hours or do you see AHI data as well?
Next, are you selecting the drive letter for the SD card or are you selecting a folder on the SD card? You want to just select the drive letter and NOT the folder on the SD card.
Hope that helps.

Re: Importing data to Sleepyhead
Thanks for the quick reply. I see Usage Hours only.
And yes, only selecting the drive. No folders show up when I select it anyway, so that wouldn't be an option.

Re: Importing data to Sleepyhead
I think that's the problem. Your DME set the machine up so that it doesn't record the efficacy data. SleepyHead can't display what's not on the card.blades wrote:Thanks for the quick reply. I see Usage Hours only.
You will need to get into the clinical menu to change the Sleep Quality setting. To get your hands on the clinical manual you should go over to apneaboard.com and register over there. Poke around their pages and you'll be able to get a copy of the clinical manual for your machine.
It's been way too long since I owned my S9 AutoSet and I no longer remember the magic combination of buttons to press to get into the Clinical Set up menu. But once you're in it, changing Sleep Quality from Usage to On is easy to do.
And my guess is that once Sleep Quality is set to On, you'll start seeing data in SleepyHead the following morning.

Re: Importing data to Sleepyhead
Thanks for your help, I will dig around the net for the clinical manual.
It seems odd to me that they wouldn't set it for efficacy data. They have gone to the trouble of putting a wireless transmitter on my machine, I would think they would want to be getting as much info from it as possible. Or maybe they can still get info wirelessly without it being written to the SD card? My RRT did say that they get info on leaks, etc in the wireless transmission. Would that not also include AHI, etc by default?

Chances are all they want is the usage data so they get paid by your insurance company.blades wrote:Thanks for your help, I will dig around the net for the clinical manual.

They might get some very, very basic summary data, but nothing really useful. If you download ResScan, it might just find the simple summary data that is written to the machine's internal storage. All it includes is the overnight AHI (and not a list of when the events occured), the median, 95%, and max leak rate values (but no graph to show when you are leaking or how long the leaks actually last). It's pretty basic summary statistical data rather than the interesting stuff.Or maybe they can still get info wirelessly without it being written to the SD card? Re: Importing data to Sleepyhead
Great, thanks for all the help! I was able to turn the sleep quality setting to ON.
Last question (for now). How often is it recommended to import the data into Sleepy Head? Or is that just a personal preference? I can see this quickly becoming something to obsess over. lol

Re: Importing data to Sleepyhead
On a Resmed S9 like you are using, the machine overwrites the high resolution (wave flow) data on the SD card every seven days. The detailed data is overwritten every 30 days. If the detailed data is not there, SleepyHead will say it can't find any data.blades wrote:Great, thanks for all the help! I was able to turn the sleep quality setting to ON.

If you're a data geek, it's good to get into the habit of downloading the card into SleepyHead at least once a week so that you don't lose any of the high resolution wave flow data.

Re: Importing data to Sleepyhead
I think it is helpful to view the data daily in the beginning while you are learning how to read and interpret it. Ask lots of questions. Then start to tapper off to twice a week and finally to once a week.
Once you are satisfied that your therapy is working and your machine settings are optimized, some of us get lazy and only check when something seems wrong or just before a doctors appointment.

You are using a PR System One. So the data on the SD card is never overwritten. If you download the data once or twice a year, you (probably) won't lose anything, including the detailed wave flow data.
But people who are using a Resmed S9 (like the OP) will lose data if they don't download at least once a week. The high resolution wave flow data from a Resmed S9 is only stored on the SD card for seven days; after that it is overwritten with fresh data. The detailed data that SH needs to draw graphs is only stored on the Resmed's SD card for 30 days. If a Resmed user forgets to download the data for a whole month or more, there will be days where SleepyHead cannot report any data and the only data ResScan will report is the statistical summary data.
