Need advice on what to expect

Post by deadasleep » Fri Jun 02, 2006 2:14 pm

Im 31 and just found out I have sleep apnea the test showed an AHI of 59 with my lowest O2 @ 68% and an average of 81%. Last night was my second night on CPAP and my wife says I am sleeping better but I am not sure if I feel like that yet. Any advice would be nice.

Welcome deadasleep!

1st thing is don't give up this takes time. Also you might want to include in your profile what equipment you are currently using so anyone looking can help you a little better.

I am a lot better off since I started cpap back in August 05 and am trying to overcome problems here and there as they develope. The thing to do is do some searching on this site for answers to questions you have using the search button at the top of the page. Also ask lots of questions some of which are answered in the FAQ page also up at the top of this page.

I am also new to the cpap but from the many posts I've read on the subject, it does take a while to get used to and to feel the results. I have slowly noticed an increase in my alertness and a slight increase in energy. Just wanting to go walking. It is strange not wanting to sleep 13 hours a day anymore and am having to get used to finding other things to do! I also can tell you that I expected the machine to make me sleep all night perfectly. It doesn't really do that, but makes the sleep you get BETTER sleep. More restorative. Good luck with it and hope it works for you!
