I am using old version of encore pro 1.8.49 software with my card reader. Its been a while since I read my card. I am getting a message that says Unable to connect to specified database. Any body have any ideas.
Thanks Jim

Re: Card reader
Has it ever worked on the computer you are trying to use? Many newer computers are 64 bit not 32 bit windows operating systems. That will make it need a 64 bit driver for the card reader to work, it also may affect the setting up of the database. Jim
The card reader must be a DT-3500 (?)

Re: Card reader
Its still on my old computer I tried unsuccessfully to get it to work on my new 64 bit system. It has worked fine for years. I haven't been checking numbers for a while, I had a sleep issue last night so I thought I would check, and that's when I discovered the problem. It wouldn't have anything to with the smart card would it ? Yes my reader is a DT 3500.
Thanks Jim

Re: Card reader
Odds are something has went squirrelly. Removing the smart card drivers may help, also use a eraser to LIGHTLY clean the card contacts. The card could go bad but you would need a spare to check it out.
There used to be a program to reformat the card, and a new driver for 64 bit, but I've lost track of ehere to download them.

That would be an indication that the SQL Server isn't running........for whatever reason.not so sure wrote:I am using old version of encore pro 1.8.49 software with my card reader. Re: Card reader
The SQL Server needs to start first, then the SQL/Service Manager, then the Infineer Reader Utility, and then the Encore Pro program.

Re: Card reader
What are the SQL services
Re: Card reader
If you are using Windows 7 you can start the task manager and go to the services tab.. look down the list for SQLBrowser and see if it is running or stopped.

Re: Card reader
As I remember, EP 1.8.49 won't run on anything newer that Windows XP, I know it won't run on Windows 7. You can do a search for "SQL manager". I can't remember where it is because I have a short cut that let's me turn it on without searching for it. The SQL Database is where the data from Encore Pro is stored.
