Mac, SleepyHead software, photo bucket

Post by apw5746 » Wed Feb 19, 2014 12:28 pm

Need help getting graphs and data from SleepyHead to photo bucket to forum, all using a Mac. I recently migrated from a PC to a Mac and there is a world of difference between the two.

I know Pugsy know's SH inside and out, but isn't Mac proficient. Someone out there has to be good with all three.

Assistance please.

apw -- I'm on Snow Leopard but hopefully these functions still work the same way for Lion up through the newest OS (Mavericks): Open SleepyHead and when you're ready to take the picture, select Fullscreen Toggle (under the View menu).

To take a screenshot on the Mac, press Command-shift-3. The Command key is the one with the apple on it, not the one that says "Control". The screenshot usually appears right on your desktop. If I want to crop or resize a photo before uploading it to Photobucket I do it with Photoshop Elements but you can also crop in iPhoto.

Upload the image to Photobucket, and once uploaded you'll be shown the Image code for that picture. Copy and paste the code right into a post here. It will just be text, but if you click Preview you should see your image and that means we'll be able to see it once you Submit it.

Sleepyhead works just fine on Lion and Mavericks.....I've used on both.

Hi apw5746,

Welcome to Macs!

I use command-shift-4 because I prefer to choose what I want when I capture what is there, rather than crop it later.
That brings up a "+" cursor, and you can then click and drag a box around the part of the screen you want to make into an image.

Double-clicking on that image file will open it in Preview. Usually it is called something like "Screen shot 2014-02-20 at 10.49.07 PM.tiff" and is on the Desktop.

Then in Preview you can save it renamed to what makes sense to you, and choose the JPEG format from the pull down menu.

That "makes sense.jpg" file can be uploaded to PhotoBucket.
