Heated Hose PR1

I'm looking for a new Respironics auto cpap machine to replace some older M-Series APAP and REMstar Auto C-Flex CPAP Machines that I've had for some time.

Is the PR System One REMStar 60 Series Auto CPAP Machine with the heated hose a lot better machine then the previous PR System One REMstar Auto CPAP Machine with A-Flex?
Can the Series 60 also be used with a stand alone humidifier such as the HC150 Heated Humidifier as well as the heated hose setup? I would like to continue to use my current one as well as the new heated humidifier hose setup.

How would the performance of the two machines compare? I assume that both work with the same software programs as monitoring my therapy is a must. I currently use Encore Basic with my older style M-Series and REMstar Auto C-Flex CPAP Machines.

Yes, it is quieter.

Yes if you are not using the heated hose but using the standard hose. If you use the new heated hose, the HC150 will have to be connected at the patient end of the heated hose and then the heated air will be passed through the HC150. Otherwise, you can use the short hose from the humidifier to the HC150 and the long hose on to you. Although it is a little odd to use two heated humidifiers in series, it might increase the humidity level being delivered. One caution that you likely have already considered is the greatly increased risk of rainout using the combination. A lot of insulation on the patient hose would be needed to control that.

No, the older Encore Basic won't work with the new 60 series machines. You will need to get a more current version.

I should clarify that the Encore Basic software that I have is version 2.1. Is there a version that is newer then this? This is different then Encore Viewer or Encore Pro software that I am also familiar with.

I just did the same thing, replaced my M series with the PR60 with the heated hose and I love it. You do have to have the integrated PR humidifier though to use the heated hose... and yes you can use the encore basic software that you used with the M series that is exactly what I did. I use both encore basic and sleepyhead, bit I am beginning to prefer sleepyhead software.

Yes, most definitely it will work. 2.1 or 2.2 probably isn't the latest latest version but all that I have and it will for sure work with the 60 series machines. Basic was written with the 60 series machine in mind. All the Basic versions work with the 60 series machines
The differences between version 2.1 or 2.2....I couln't find any...reports didn't change any at all though.

You don't have to worry about getting to software with the new 60 series machines because your version of Basic that you have will indeed work.

Just to clarify the setup, If I choose to use my current standalone humidifier I could hook it up the same way and just sub in the new Series 60 apap in place of the M-Series one. When I want to use the heated hose I would disconnect the standalone humidifier (short 18" hose from the machine series 60 blower outlet) then attach the Series 60 heated hose humidifier unit to the main series 60 apap and fasten the heated hose to the humidifier outlet. Is this correct?

Yes, that setup should work.
I can't imagine the blower unit having any issues with the stand alone humidifier as it really isn't much different (to the blower's mind) than not having a humidifier attached.
