I used it for the first time last night and I was great! It is so light and doesn't make me feel claustrophobic. I finally feel like I can continue my therapy on a consistent basis and maybe, just maybe, I'll finally feel this thing that everybody refers to as "refreshed"! Wouldn't that be incredible?

I've just started using the AirFit and am having some issues with it. I have free return insurance, but would like to make it work, if possible, and hope there might be some suggestions.

1) If I separate the bands, the mask slips off in the night. This is a common problem for me; I don't know if it's my round head or slippery hair or what. But keeping the bands together makes the mask uncomfortably tight.

I have been waking up feeling more rested, so it's possible that the tighter seal/lack of slipping is beneficial, but it's very uncomfortable.

2) I wake up with painful, inflamed nostrils. I'm going to try the smaller pillows tonight to see if that helps.

3) While waiting to fall asleep, I have a hard time breathing and have to inhale deeply. I've never noticed this problem with any mask before.

I'm using a Vantage autoset, which I loathe, with a heated humidifier, which I also loathe.

I love this mask!!!! I like how the headgear is soft, so easy to slip on and off in the dark. No marks on my face every morning! I did have some slippage in the beginning but remedied it with a pony tail. Night before last I woke feeling suffocated and took it off for a few mins then tried again. Same thing. I wasn't getting enough air. I later found out my hose was kinked a bit..lol. Anyways, I get a great seal and I'm really happy with the mask. i just need to be mindful of the hose.

(I started with the Swift fx. Didnt like it much at all. The top head strap wasn't covered with material and would tangle my hair. Also, my hair would get in the way when I was trying to adjust the headgear. Too much to have to adjust. Hard to put on and take off in the dark and all that air blowing out!!)

What size nasal pillow are you using now?
What is your pressure setting when you first start the night?

Have you tried Lansinoh lanolin ointment/cream for the soreness? It's found in the baby aisle of most stores.
Breast feeding moms use it.

That back strap sliding up is probably the weakest link in this mask. It happens sometimes to me but most of the time the nasal pillows always stay sealed even with that back strap on top of my head sitting right next to the other strap.
But yes..tension is adjusted by the space between the straps. Takes some fiddling to find the right spot.
I put the back strap way down near the bottom of my skull and then work the top strap to find comfortable tension. I have short hair..nothing to get in the way of that back strap from moving but most nights it stays in place or at least doesn't travel up too far.

When I put on my P10, I pull my hair over the bottom strap.
It is not long enough for a pony tail yet, but even short hair helped keep the bottom strap down.
Of course, I had to gel down my cowlick in the morning.

I have been going back and forth with my airfit f10 and been trying to use my airfit P10. I seem not to get my nasal pillow P10 tight enough. Is there an easy way to make it tighter? Also do I need to change the settings on my CPAP machine when I use one or the other?

Have you tried all three sizes of nasal pillows in the kit? I found, to my surprise, that the small created fewer leaks than the medium, and I would not say that I have a small nose. So ignore the sizes and just try them all. Note that the medium sealed well enough to go to sleep, but I awoke frequently with it leaking annoyingly. The small simply seems to be a better fit.

Robert, good advice by Stienman to try the other pillow sizes. The mask shouldn't have to be too tight.
ResMed machines use the mask setting to calculate the amount of leak. It probably won't affect your therapy not to change the setting, but the reported leak base-line might be incorrect.

Love the mask. After exactly one year however, it's stretched too much. Just bought a new one, and it's way tighter. Yes, I got a bigger rather than smaller head. Hoping they work this out.

If you got a year out of your headgear I would be happy. Have you tried following the manufacturers suggestion to shrink the headgear by washing in hot water? May buy you a bit more time. It does work but obviously needs to be repeated occasionally.
