Swift FX mask and mouth breathing

Post by Oobie » Wed Jan 15, 2014 12:00 pm

I've been having 67 days of real success with auto-CPAP therapy, using a ResMed S9 AutoSet and their SwiftFX nasal mask.

Occasionally, my mouth falls open during sleep, leaking air. It's a distracting feeling.

Are the slits on the headgear for the SwiftFX useful for anchoring a chin strap? Are there any such straps on offer anywhere, if yes?

I wouldn't use the side bars for anchoring a chin strap but I will tell you the Ruby Red chinstrap really works well and has its own anchor. get the extra large if you have a bigger head as it runs a but small. You can get them really cheap on amazon.

I don't know who makes it, but at my sleep study I briefly used (and managed to filch) a simple but effective chin strap which was a 2-inch wide strip of elastic material with velcro at each end. It is similar to this item amazon item - AG-Industries-Super-Deluxe-AG-CHSD - and while simpler than many items you'll see online is effective and affordable.

I use the bottom half of a Breathewear Halo chinstrap in the extra slits in my Aloha nasal pillow. You could also check out cpapchinstraps dot com.
