Aaargh,my stoopid mask..I have a full face mirage. Anyways once I start relaxing, it starts whistling around my chin area I sleep on my side..air leaks! I pull it up,I pull it down..and still it leaks!
It drives me nuts. Last night I pulled the head straps tighter and tighter a little bit,a little more until I gave myself a headache.Than I just took off the cpap in frustration..What can I do about it? Glue it on?,use duct tape? Sheesh. Is the mirage mask designed by people with a bad sense of humor or something??
Does anyone else's NOSE always begin to itch after your mask is all adjusted and you are beginning to relax ?
The nose itch goes on irking you until you just have to reach up into the mask and scratch it? Is there any way to get your nose to shaddap? Lastly a question for anyone else with a mirage and a pierced nostril. Ever find your nostril or nosering gets hung up on the wing tips on that stupid clip thing that holds the hose in place on the inside front of your mask? What do you do about it? It seems the mirage is cheesy with these idiotic plastic clips.Annoying..really annoying.I unhooked my hose in my sleep trying to move it and the freaking clip holding it to my mask went sailing off somewhere unknown and I had to spend 20 minutes looking for a little CLEAR ring..found it..but what is it with these cheesy clips??!!
Sometimes I feel like getting out the duct tape, really I do.
whistling...
Hi UndergroundPanther!
I'm sorry to hear 'bout the leaks and whistles...it's a damn frustrating situation.
As others here have posted, I have also tried using SCUBA mask glue to get rid of leaks. It seems to work fairly well for me, but don't get the stuff into your eyes...been there and it's irritating.
You could try moving the forehead adjuster up a notch and readjusting your headgear straps. I do that while the machine is on so that the mask bellows are inflated.
Also, some here have had good results by using moleskin applied to the mask. I haven't tried that, but am going to try using DuoDerm applied to my skin with tincture of benzoin applied to the leaky area of the mask. Word of caution about that though...I have no idea if the benzoin will damage the mask.
I'm sure that others will have some more helpful tips. I hope that you can find a way to seal that leak.

Hiya Panther!
Unfortunately, I am a brand new user myself, and have no experience with the full face masks.
However, my first question would be to ask if you have spent any time discussing this with your Equipment Provider? That is one thing they are generally very good at is fine tuning these things!
Bingo

Bingo, dear........until I told him about it, my RT/DME didn't have much to offer on plugging leaks......gave him a crash course on the uses of moleskin.....Same went for my Dr........had patients asking HIM what to do.....another student in Moleskin 101........... Perhaps someday I might get a chance to try that scuba glue stuff........
If you think you can breathe through your nose then I'd try the Activa. I have the Activa and UMFF and although I started out loving the UMFF mask, I'm now using the Activa as I thought initially I was a mouth breather and didn't think I could cope with a nasal mask. I was dead wrong. I still have to full back to the UMFF mask *IF* I can't breathe due to blocked sinuses on the odd night.
If you do need the UMFF mask then try some stick back towelling. You know, the kind that you stick to tennis rackets. I'm told that this creates a nice seal when stuck to the rubber part that usually sticks to your face. Make sure the towelling goes against your skin, and this apparently creates a much better seal. You should be able to pick up small and large rolls at most sports shops or centres.
