Well Septoplasty/Turbinate reduction

Post by Gottop69 » Mon Dec 09, 2013 10:56 am

So went to ENT Friday and he recommended I have a Septoplasty and turbinate reduction. So I get the joys of that on the 20th of this month. Seems like fun. I never had these problems till after I quit smoking. Oh well seems all for the best

Anyone here have this done or any suggestions for before or after surgery.

Thanks in advance.

Hey it will probably help any sleep apnea you have. It will probably reduce NAR or nasal airway resistance some. Which will probably reduce your CPAP pressure a little. I experienced a reduction in pressure from a simple tonsillectomy. I was skeptical but it was true.

I need to have my deviated nasal septum straightened out. And have my turbinates and sinuses surgically cleared. I figure thats worth one point on my CPAP machine, I figure it will reduce my pressures a point. Who knows, maybe more than a point.

My ENT, who ordered my sleep study, performed the surgery after study, but before titration. Surgery was a breeze - and helped immensely. I have had only one sinus infection since (surgery was in 2008), and I used to have 2-3 a year. Fewer cases of upper respiratory infections too (less stuff draining down into my chest I guess).

I would say, overall - one of the best medical decisions I have ever made!

Thanks I hope this is the same for me. The doctor said surgery Friday should be back to work on Monday. Have to go to his office to get cleared of course. Merry Christmas to me. Lol
