OT - Urgent PC for Overactive Bladder

Just got a pamphlet in the mail from my Urologist about this.

The pamphlet states that: "Urgent PC uses mild electrical impulses to stimulate the nerves that control the bladder."

I do take Rapaflo for my BPH (due to slightly enlarged prostate), but would not be interested in this because although I sometimes awake to go to the bathroom (once during the night) I do that only about 30% or less of the time.

Could those of you who are using a Tens Unit duplicate this treatment?

One of the wires goes in the skin. I won't be trying that but I intend to try this with 2 pads. I just forgot about it.

Stu, During 2013 I have been trying generic Flomax to reduce my peeing from 4 to 2 times per night. It did work (I think) and now I go only once or twice without the Flomax.

When I was at age 60 my Prostate gland was scraped by a TURP surgery (Google it). But, it could have grown back in the 20 years since then.

About the TENS Unit do you know that it does nothing physiologically (medically) but just divert your brain attention from the pain area to the muscles that are twitching from the electrical current generated by the TENS and fed to your skin by the electrodes? You adjust the "pain" level created by the TENS, located any where on your body, until the muscle twitching are sort of painful. You do it while you are NOT asleep. So the whole thing is a bluff. What do you want to do with it related to your Prostate gland, or bladder?

I've got a bottle of generic Flowmax which my GP Rx'd me a few months ago - however I haven't really had the time to try it yet. After Avi123's reply I may give it a shot after the holidays. I tend to pee anywhere from 1 to 3 times a night... I'd love to cut that down to zero if possible. FYI, my former nasty nocturnia is now in virtual remission thanks to my current improved CPAP therapy.

Used to have a problem. After heart attack was put on Flowmax, and CPAP, problem corrected. I started using Saw Palmetto caps also. 4 months ago I went off Flowmax to try to relieve side effects.

I could not tell a difference in flow and lab tests show better kidney function, so I am leaving it out of the mix. I drink a lot of water at night, never have to get up anymore, I owe this to Xpap treatment...... Not drugs! Jim

And that's on two Lasix 40 mg a day! They move water.

Flomax & the other related drugs do have to "accumulate" in your system to achieve the best results.

So, even if it improves your condition, you must continue to take it or you will revert to your previous condition.

The same thing that the Urgent PC does.

I am not naive enough to believe that my Urologist would not push something to make some extra money.

But, I do honestly believe he is not stupid enough to push something that does not work (or at least work for some people).

And although I can't say this for a lot of people in the Medical field, he has actually earned my trust.

Even though I do NOT think it would fit my needs, I expect to discuss it with him at my 2014 visit just out of curiosity. Hopefully, he will have had some feedback by them from any of his patients who may have tried it.

Thanks guys for the input of the last several posts. Something to consider.
