Night Snack?

Post by Chevie » Wed Nov 20, 2013 6:32 pm

What are some good snacks to eat, say an hour before bedtime? How about peanut butter?

(I don't have diabetes and am not overweight.)

Peanut butter gives me awful gerd, so as much as I love it I have to lay off.

Cheese sticks are ideal for me. If necessary I can just pop the connector off my Quattro Air and shove one right throughout the hole in the mask.

OK, just kidding, but they are a great snack!

I love to munch down some raw veggies. Celery, green pepper, cucumber.

They seem to calm the stomach while not requireing a lot of resources to handle.

I read once that a muffin has something in it that aids sleep. I love blueberry or banana nut. Yummy...

Bacon is good any time.

Anything with calcium in it is supposed to promote sleep.

I cannot remember what it is but bacon is supposed to contain something that keeps you awake. I love it myself but it seems to have this effect on me. Could be science or could be power of suggestion, but I'd investigate if this is a problem.

I fall asleep inside of 2 minutes--no help. A little bacon's not a problem.
I just need to eat lightly before bed --or not at all; and especially very few carbs.

All men love bacon. You are lucky men don't love to eat frogs or you'd be in BIG trouble.... You'd have to hide out....

My three most often night time snacks are granola bars or nutrigrain fruit bars. Individually sealed and dont need refridgeration. Reach to night stand and rip open to eat. My favorite is vanilla ice cream with peaches. It requires effort and time so unless absolutely awake only hit the ice cream once a night on average. I cut the peaches up before bedtime and store in tupperware. Another snack of regular choice is Lucky Charms with milk. Final regular middle of night snack are tdaditional butter cookies. Sounds like a case of diabetes and weight problem waiting fo happen but been stable af 5' 11" 158 pounds for 30 years so keep doing what works.

Maybe not in Texas?

I wouldn't say a good frog leg is better than a good steak - but it is up there.

I'm quite partial to the cheese board for a bit of a late supper

Or some proper chocolate if someones brought some over from England for me.

Here's something I wrote a few weeks ago on another thread:

Air popped Popcorn, no butter, super light salt... high in fiber and it digests easily. Almonds, pistachios in the shell plus any light oil content tree nut. Some fruits like fresh apples, pears and such are moderate in sugar (fructose) and high in fiber so they might be nice on the side with the above mentioned items. I used to like high protein stuff like tuna fish or unprocessed lunch meats with some RyeChisp crackers but lately I've been staying away from anything too heavy before bedtime. You might have a different view on that. Hope that helps.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
