Marage quatro?

Post by jbloodwo » Sat Nov 16, 2013 12:32 am

Ok basically, I am using a quatro because when I did my sleep study, my mouth was "non compliant" and did not want to stay shut. I keep feeling like I am getting small leeks in the corner of my left eye no matter what I do to adjust the mask? I will admit that due to several "Run-ins" with some low hanging eves when I was young. Is there some other full face mask that might work better for some one with a jacked up nose bridge? Or would a pad a cheek liner help this?

---edit---

Dang is that in English???
Boring back story....

Basically, what I was trying to say is I have a totally strange bridge on my nose because I am so darn smart I ran full speed into a low hanging eve on a house up the street not once but twice... Stupid me got tired of playing some game on friends then "state of the art" colico vision (I think). Resulting in a stupid running chase game where I a ran at near full speed and forget to duck under a low hanging eve. ;((

----
I guess what I really want to know is is it common with thi mask to feel like there is a small amount of leakage around the eyes? And If so is some form of a liner the best solution?

Not "common"...but it happens. Yes, a mask liner may help. Go to padacheek.com

Actually, I think it's pretty common - lots of postings about it (and I have the same problem).

Very common. My leaks tend to be down by the corners of my mouth if I use that mask, and not small leaks either but a whistling farting symphony, even with a PadaCheek. The Mirage Quattro and Quattro FX are difficult masks to make leak free and therefore lot's of people tend to over tighten them. If these masks fit ones face however, they can be a blessing.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Arrgh... Why did I clean my bloody mask. Can't get the thing to stop farting tonight my cpap is an expensive whoopsie cushion. what is the least expensive way to try different interfaces. I kinda like this quatro but it is a bear to get the thing to fit.

Well, maybe it doesn't fit. Are you sure you have the right size? The Quattro comes in different sizes. How old are the seals? They do wear out and should be replaced from time to time. Also, I have noticed that ResMed straps tend to stretch over time and eventually can't be adjusted properly because the overall shape of the headgear is changed by the stretching. Yet another expense. So many variables with this game.

PapCap, TWO mask liners and two nose bridge protectors, and way over tightening has done the trick for me for going on four or five years now. No leaks, comfy as a kitten on my face, but it really warm and is tight, but it works and I got used to all that in a week and LOVE My Q!!

Also, my new S9 Auto only gives me just enough pressure to keep me breathing and haven't had ANY issues with areophagia and am sleeping as good as a teenager on a weekend!

If it weren't for having a bad back and three fusions done a year ago that keep giving me fits when my pain meds wear off in the middle of the night, who knows how good I would feel!

It's a whole lot better with Karens liners, for sure. If it weren't for Karens ingenuity, I wouldn't be compliant and may not even be alive today to write this post. For real.

I am using a large. That was the size the put I'm me at the sleep center. And it is less than a month old. Yes I am washing my face every night before I put the mask on. I did a full wash of the mask yesterday. It was after that that I had a really bad night with the mask. I am thinking I will order a pad a cheek tomorow.

Luckily for you, the Mirage Quattro is not the only full face mask out there. (contrary to mentally challenged DME's)
I couldn't get it to seal on the nose and chin at the same time. It is not made for my face--probably a lot of others, too.
I found the P/R ComfortGel full face mask was a much better fit, due to the deep cushions.
I am looking forward to trying the Sleepweaver Anew.

Mirage Quattro was an unmitigated disaster for me. Nothing worked over a long duration until I went to the Ultra Mirage. It's an older mask but leaves no marks, has almost no leaks, and doesn't feel as if someone is bolting steel beams to my face. You may want to give this a try.

Good luck and God bless.
