PR-System One Remstar Auto not writing to SD card

Post by Squirrelfriend » Wed Nov 06, 2013 6:37 am

I'm hoping someone can help me. A couple of days ago, I started getting "No Data" when I tried to import my sleep data from the SD card into SleepyHead. I've been fooling around with clinician settings in an attempt to attain optimal pressure, and I wonder if I have accidentally disabled the card writer somehow.

Also when I go into the "Info" menu on the machine and select "Status", it says, "SD card: locked". That's very suspicious, but the thing is I know it's not locked, because I can write to it from my laptop. Can anyone help me figure out what's going on?

Also, can someone tell me if this card is in a standard format, i.e. can I get a replacement at Target, or would I have to order from PR?

Any help much appreciated!

I've never had this happen, but I'd check the physical lock on the side of the card just to be sure.

Any SD card should work. In the Series 50 machines it's got to be a plain old SD card, the SDHD cards will not work in my Series 50 System One. I don't know if the Series 60 machines can use an SDHD card or not.

There's no way that I have ever seen to accidentally disable the write to SD card function in any of the clinical menu settings.
So I doubt you did it accidentally.

I would try unlocking the card again..just to make sure.
As RobySue said...any plain SD card will work and I think that the new SDHD cards will work in the newer machines. I haven't needed to test that theory yet to confirm. There is no need to pay the extra money for the HD cards though.

If a new SD card still won't get recognized and written to...there may be a problem within the machine. Those are rare though...not impossible but very rare for that to happen.

When I instert the SD card, the normal thing is that I should get a message that the machine is writing to the card and that I should not remove the card. Right? Then, after a few seconds the message goes away, and it is safe to remove the card. Right? Because this is not happening now.

I may need a new card. I've tried unlocking and re-inserting several times, and when I remove the card, the lock tab is jiggly (i.e. not all the way in the unlock position). By "by plain old SD card", do you mean that it's not SDHC or SDXC?

Correct. Some of the older machines won't work with SDHC cards and some of them will.
Some of the newer machines will work with both but to play it safe just get a SD card that isn't the fancy kind because they work in all the machines that use SD cards...and they don't cost as much.
1 GB size is plenty but those are hard to find. In fact its even getting hard to find 2 GB plain SD cards.
Walmart is where I got mine when I lost my original card. I got a plain Sandisk 2 GB SD card and it works fine. Around $8 if I remember right.

It sounds like the little lock tab might be broken and broken in the locked position.

I ordered a 2GB SanDisk SD card from Amazon. Fingers crossed. Thanks for your help!
