Should I get a heated humidifier?
Should I get a heated humidifier?
First, just a note of thanks to everyone who steered me in the right direction in getting my first CPAP. Thanks to all of your advice, I avoided getting the default brick and found a DME that provided the ResMed S9 Elite. I'm an information junkie, so I love reading my numbers every morning to see how I did the night before.
Now, Im wondering if the room temp humidifier I got with my S9 is sufficient. Last night was our first cool night, and I definitely feel more congested than my previous few nights of therapy. Maybe just coincidence, but I've read where warm humid air is better than cool air. Can I even buy a heated humidifier separate for this machine or am I stuck with what I got?
Any advice is appreciated.

Are you meaning a heated hose?

Not sure what you mean by "room temp" humidifier. This is the humidifier that goes with the ResMed S9 Elite:

If you already have the humidifier, you can add the Climateline heated hose:

Oops. I guess the humidifier I have is heated. Please ignore my post above.

If you don't have the heated hose, I sure like it and recommend it.

Re: Should I get a heated humidifier?
kaisgram, i just ordered a hose cozy for the slimline hose. i am hoping it gives it a softer feel as i dont use a hose buddy and keep it going across the mattress. i am wondering if they also make hose cozies for the climateline hose? I plan to get one for the winter months and sure would like it to be softer. I haven't seen one online that specifies that it will fit the climateline hose yet.

Re: Should I get a heated humidifier?
Just that I can really warm up the incoming air -- actually, with the Climateline you can also preheat with the Warmup button, which is great. The other nice thing is in the a.m. when you turn the machine off, it goes through a cool-down cycle where air continues to lightly blow through the hose which helps dry it out so it doesn't sit with moisture all day.Zzzer wrote:Just got it. What do you like about it?
When you attach your CL hose you can set climate control to "Auto" where you select a humidification and the temp auto adjusts according to that setting, or you can have it on "Manual" which allows you to independently control both temp and humidification. That's what I do.

Re: Should I get a heated humidifier?
oak, I'm not sure about the answer to your question. I know some people have been advised not to put a cover on the CL hose because it can overheat that way, but I also know of people who have put cozies on it and done just fine. I've never put anything on my CL. It routes over my head and over the headboard, so it's not really touching me anywhere.oak wrote:kaisgram, i just ordered a hose cozy for the slimline hose. i am hoping it gives it a softer feel as i dont use a hose buddy and keep it going across the mattress. i am wondering if they also make hose cozies for the climateline hose?
