Efficacy data question

Post by Jasone » Sat Aug 03, 2013 11:49 am

Many thanks for the helpful responses to my query below regarding "brand names." All helpful to a newbie. My question is this: there is an SD card in my machine Philips Respironics RemStar Plus CFlex System One 260. Does this mean the card is recording efficacy data? If so, can I use a piece of downloadable software to read it? It seems to read "empty." If the machine does not record efficacy data, what is the card doing there? Does it have to be sent to the cpap firm I rent from to be read? Thanks all.

The machine you have does record one piece of data...compliance only hours of use...onto that SD card. It's used to prove to your insurance company that you are actually using the machine the required number of hours so they aren't wasting their money paying for a machine that is sitting in your closet.

You might want to read this

especially the part down at the bottom of the blog page.

With the Phillips Respironics System One machine you will need model # 450 or higher to have any efficacy data available.

You can access basic efficacy data using "sleepmaker" software. You need to upload it and your DME or maybe other professional has to activate you on the server. Call your DME and ask about it. It's free for use on your computer, but costly if you want to buy a gizmo that will load the data onto a mobile device.

Not if the machine doesn't record it. The model the OP is using is NOT data-capable. All it records is hours used. PERIOD!

SleepMapper is the web version for accessing the Respironics machines data...if the machine doesn't gather anything then there is nothing to report. The PR System One Plus CPAP machines don't gather anything but hours of use...nothing else.
If it doesn't put it on the SD card...nothing will show it.

And this is the sum total of what Respironics offers with their wonderful web SleepMapper from a machine that does gather full efficacy data.

ResMed has a similar web version but I haven't see what it shows.
It's called SleepSeeker

Try to get your machine changed to a 450(Pro) or better yet a 550(Auto). Your DME may give you a hard time but it's worth the fight. All these machines have the same insurance code but the DME makes more profit on the lower end machine. Good luck and keep us posted.
