Insurance would not cover the in-Dr office study so I did the home study. It took 2 nights as one or 2 cords came off during the night. Dr looked at the data and said yes you have sleep apnea, equipment provider came out and showed me how to turn it on and off and adjust the ramp and humidity. He said he used the nose pillows because he could sleep on his side better, I agreed. He said I could only have one or the other- nose pillows or full face. So I took the nose pillows. He said machine was set per Dr's orders. Six weeks later my sleep pattern is not any better. I called Dr's office and pleaded to Dr for going to insurance again and he got the approval. So last night I did the in office sleep test. We started with the nose pillows- I lasted till 2:00 AM, woke up dry mouth with apneas, we then switched over to the full face, fell back asleep right away and did not wake up till 6:00 am when the test was over with no further apneas. So a full face mask is ordered and he said he went up to only 10 on the air so we changed my machine to 10 and CPAP. The machine was set to Auto and from 7-14 so the high air pressure was actually waking me up in the past.
So I guess for all us newbe's don't settle for something that you know and feel is not working. I know if I kept going as before I would have given up on the machine after 6 months with no better sleep pattern.
I will keep everyone posted after I get a week with the full face mask results in.
He also said he just read an article about a new mother complaining that her 7 week old newborn was crabby all the time, they did a sleep study and the poor little guy has sleep apnea at 7 weeks- never too young or old to be tested and treated.

You have an S9 autoset. It has all the data you needed to figure this out. Download Sleephead and see daily your leaks and AHI in detail.

Your DME or doctor could have down loaded the data with the official software and seen the mouth leaks.
