Vibratory Snore

Post by Stormynights » Sat May 25, 2013 7:12 am

I have noticed that the higher the pressure goes the more vibratory snores. I remember one person that raised the pressure to decrease the snores. Could the snores recorded be leaks instead of snores?

Last night I had a lot of snores and I lowered my pressure to do an experiment. I also used my Tap Pap for the first time. I really can't figure out if leaks can be confused as snores. Does anyone have an opinion?

I don't know if leaks can be confusing to the machine and be recorded as snores or not.
I suppose it is possible if the leaks are creating a lot of "noise" that sounds like snores.
I know that my machine picks up on the pug dog snores when he lays up on my bed pillow with his little chin between my neck and shoulder. Funny thing is that the machine won't increase the pressure (auto adjusting pressure mode) in response to the pug snores and it will for other snores.

So if the machine isn't trying to fix the snores...maybe they aren't the kind of snores that require fixing.

My machine does increase pressure. So can I correctly assume that it is real snores? This doesn't happen every night with a large amount of vibratory snores but it seems to be increasing.

If you are seeing an increase in pressure along with the snores then I think it is safe to assume that the snores are real and likely warning signs of a potential collapse of the airway.
These new cpap machines aren't nearly as likely to go chasing leaks as the older machines used to do where we would assume that the increase in pressure was the machine trying to fix a leak.
Small increases in the leak line that correspond to pressure increases are most likely related to the vent rate increasing with the increase in pressure.

Thank you Pugsy. I asked my husband if he has heard me snore on my bad snore nights and he says he doesn't. That is why I thought it must be leaks. I guess it isn't anything to worry with.
