After 15 years of marriage I finally got my husband in for a sleep study (had no clue until recently that insurance covered this) for suspected sleep apnea (I'd watched him sleep so I had a pretty good idea.) I was actually excited when he flunked the sleep study so he could get the cpap. I was worried that his apnea wasn't bad enough but it was. He was in the moderate range for apnea.
I quickly got worried when the first mask they gave him didn't work. He had the Breeze but he sleeps on his back and tosses and turns and after reading this board I realized that this was not the mask for him (yes I'm the researcher in the family). LOL!!
Money is tight so we can't afford to buy a bunch of masks so I came here looking for advice and you gave me a very detailed, well-thought out response and I thank you. I took that list and researched those 4-5 masks to figure out what I thought would be the best mask for him to try next.
We ended up ordering the Activa. It took a few days for him to quit taking the thing off in the middle of the night (bad habit I think) but this morning when the alarm went off he still had it on. YEAH!!
Either way this mask works for him and is comfortable.
So thanks so much for your response. It was greatly appreciated. My husband, knock on wood, has found his mask. And we only had to buy ONE. How awesome is that!!!
