TAP PAP arrived today
Hello;
I have been using the Swift LT. It has worked fine except I don't like my hair getting caught in the headgear when making an adjustment. Noticed some of you use the TAP PAP. Decided to research it, and order. Any tips on the sizing of the mouth guard, or any tips that will help me overall, with this unit. Have the 30 day insurance so if not happy, it will go back. Thanks in advance.

Check out this thread above. Links to the fitting video are in the first post.
Don't stress out on the fitting thing. If you mess up you can undo it it and start all over again.
You may need a size larger in the nasal pillows when compared to the Swift LT. They tend to run a bit small.
It really is easier than it looks like it will be.

Re: TAP PAP arrived today
Thanks, Pugsy. I assume it works well for you?
Re: TAP PAP arrived today
Yep, works great for me. That's why I changed my mask choice in my profile to the Tap Pap. I had been using the Swift FX nasal pillows for a couple of years. I won't use anything but nasal pillows and have tried a lot of them. Some I liked okay...some I hated...but the Tap Pap I really like. Getting used to the mouth guard was probably the biggest challenge and that wasn't that big of a deal.
I have never ever used any kind of mouth guard or braces or anything like that. So totally new experience for me.

Re: TAP PAP arrived today
I'm in complete agreement about the Tap Pap ... REALLY like it.
BTW Pugsy, I think I have the same issue as you. I've discovered my mouth sneaking open with this one. It's not VERY open, but enough to cause a measurable leak. That might be the single downside of this ... the bit of plastic parts my lips just enough to matter.
Like THAT'S going to stop me! This thing is heads and tails easier to use and more comfortable than ANY mask I've tried.

Sleep loss is a terrible thing. People get grumpy, short-tempered, etc. That happens here even among the generally friendly. Try not to take it personally.

Well in my case the slight mouth opening times is nothing new for me...I do it with the Swift FX too.khauser wrote:BTW Pugsy, I think I have the same issue as you. You know, typical woman..can't keep her big mouth shut sometimes.
Though I tell you...I seem to be seeing a slight decrease in the severity and the time frame...so maybe the mouth guard is trying to teach me to keep the big trap shut. Crossing my fingers that I don't jinxed myself mentioning it.

I also like the Tap Pap, but I'm a swapper. I like to give all three of my faves equal time.
(Wisp and Elan are the other two) Haven't gotten a taping strategy figured out for the Tap Pap yet.
I wonder if Poli-Grip strips will stick to it. (just thinking out loud)

Not sure I understand about the Poli-Grip. Do you intend this to help it stay in place or as some way of keeping your mouth closed?chunkyfrog wrote:I also like the Tap Pap, but I'm a swapper. I like to give all three of my faves equal time.

Re: TAP PAP arrived today
You know your homemade chin up thingy would be ideal taping template if you did it on a smaller scale..just put the U part thingy where the mouth guard's little plastic piece sticks out through the lips.chunkyfrog wrote:Haven't gotten a taping strategy figured out for the Tap Pap yet.

Re: TAP PAP arrived today
I got mine yesterday. I used it last night. It was nice. I woke up and needed to loosen the fit on the mouthguard. It was pushing against one of my teeth too hard. It is better now. I shall look forward to using it again.
I am not using the staps or the chin strap. It seems like nothing is there. I really like that.

Re: TAP PAP arrived today
My lower lip likes to open a bit--hubby notices.
I may need to use wider tape for the chin-up a la Tap Pap.
Oh and here's my shameless plug:
"I have a pair each of medium and large pillows for the Tap Pap to trade for small(s)--unused, untried)"

I tried the medium last night and the large before that. I'm leaning towards the medium.I am not sure which ones are best for me yetchunkyfrog wrote:My lower lip likes to open a bit--hubby notices.

but, I do have the small to trade if you like (unused).
Never been tried on once!
