Re: Arrrgh!! Insomnia

Conference over, and thankfully, my husband was also attending and drove for us through morning and evening rush hour traffic. I was pretty foggy this morning.
I would be willing to check out the Dr. Krakow information. I'm more amenable to changing some things.
Some things just would not work for me right now such as the sleep restriction therapy my sleep doc mentioned in one of our earlier appointments. Please consider that at the time I was not in my best state of mind which was obviously from worsening sleep apnea which was resulting in more sleep deprivation, which was leading to more sleep medication which was likely worsening my sleep apnea leading to a vicious cycle. I was already peeved that he said I had OSA (which I wrongly considered a disease of fat old men) and gave me a copy of my study (like the complete study with graphs and all). Then he suggested this ridiculous sleep deprivation torture method (yes, my verbage for sleep restriction therapy). This is when I raised my voice at the doc which I have never done but would like to remind all of my state of exhaustion. I agreed to the titration study only as I gave up and just started feeling sorry for myself and that I would prove to this doctor what a bad idea CPAP was for me.
My titration study was one of those ones I read about here off and on, where it was some of the best sleep I had experienced in years.
I went round and round with my sleep doctor, but in the end we uncovered the main source of my insomnia and are working on the problem. Looking back on the diagnostic process with this doc, I have to admire his great care in gathering information. Also, he is a CPAP user himself and gives out a tip-sheet with his personal tips on adjusting to CPAP. It includes a list of online resources which includes this site amongst others.
