Did Dr. lock my machine setup?

I know how to get into the settings and adjust pressure and such. After my most recent Dr. appointment I'm no longer able to make changes. I can get in and change settings, but they don't stay saved. They revert back to the settings the Dr. selected. Have I been locked out by my DR.? I didn't know this was possible. How do I regain control over my own equipment? Or is something else going on?

Oh yeah, the SD is NOT locked.

Sounds like they have written the settings to the SD Card so that the SD card contains the settings.
Settings can be made with software via the SD card.
Did they recently have possession of the SD card for some reason?

You can either use a different SD card or erase that one and start fresh.
If they get hold of the SD card they are likely to do it again.

I bring the SD card to the appointment and they download the data. I'll have to let them know I don't appreciate being locked out of my own equipment. I'll use a new SD card I guess, or better yet get them to fix it so I can make adjustments.

They probably don't even know they locked you out. If you do certain things like change CPAP settings it would be very easy to set the card to "locked" with Encore Pro or Basic without realizing you're doing it.

Format the card with your PC and stick it back into the machine. You'll have all your compliance data, and full data for all the time after you format the card.

I accidentally wrote my prescription to my card once ... that sucked.

If I were you I would find another card (any 1GB should do) and format it the same as the original. Use that card for your readings, etc. As long as you don't burn your script to it, it'll work fine. Before going back to the DME/Doctor/whomever looks at the card, make sure to insert the original card back in to the machine. Run the machine for a second (this just makes it update the card), then eject the card (unless the machine indicates it is writing to it). It should now have all of the compliancy data they want to look at.

Is this a Resperonics thing or do the ResMeds also have this "feature"?

Yes this is how things work when your Rx is written to the card, I haven't used EncorePro2 or Rescan in almost 2 years so not sure about them, but it is done automatically in EncoreAnywhere. If your Dr. is downloading and writting the Rx in EncoreAnywhere there is nothing they can do to change that.

These days you need to be careful during your compliance period AND after that if your PAP device is still on rent with your DME. If you are changing your pressures without a physicains order during this time the DME can release you from service. You are viewed as a liability since you are not following the physicians orders. This has happened to patients, we have had 2 patients who have moved to AK for work and have had their claims for PAP devices denied from the insurance company and both insurance company's stated "failure of compliance to physicians orders" for the denial. Upon questioning the patients they stated that the DME had discontinued their service because they had changed their pressure without a physicians order.

As I said above I don't advocate this practice and it is not happening in my DME. I'm just the messenger.

As long as I pay for my machines, I expect I can get away with just proving compliance to get them to cover consumables.

Not to go redneck, but i wouldnt let them TOUCH my machine.

Those dweebs act like theyre doing quantum physics in those sleep labs.

Its YOUR machine, you own it. They have no right to do anything like that.

Id take it back, make it right, or tell them to buy you another system pronto or
they'll be hearing from your attorney.

But if insurance paid for it, or its a rental, I'm not sure you have legal standing...
