hi-

questions like yours is how you get to five to ten masks. you'll see. it's not that anyone starts out wanting a whole wardrobe of masks. that's just what ends up happening in the search for a comfortable one that also does the job--and just forget the criiterion even being able to scratch your nose! If nose-scratching is important, you may need to try a nasal pillows system such as Swift or else just move/un-buckle the mask when you need to scratch your nose. like you, the rest of us have just wanted something basic--no Holy Grail seeking here. certainly, there are ideas we'd like to see manufacturers incorporate along the way (an activa in a full-face style, for example) but it is the quest for what you call basic that drives us. that's what's so pathetic about the mask business.

A ACtiva in a FFM design.. that would be a potentially great mask.

I wonder why they haven't tried that.

I recently got an Activa Nasal and I can stand on my head and it doesn't leak. Back sleeping, side sleeping, face in pillow - the darn thing works - I 'm truly amazed that the seal is so versatile.

Overall, a great mask.

I have 3 masks:

1. An UM Nasal works great but leaky thru the night - wakes me up to reseat it.
2. Swift: like the lightness and openness but I've renamed mine,"Chuckie" because of the nare pain - can't get past it unless I use Novacaine. That mask is a candidate for a one way ride to a landfill in New Jersey.
3. Activa: So far the best as far as leaks go but a bit heavier than the UM. But number 1 for me.

Am I still on a mask quest? Sure. If something new comes along and I see it works for people with my specific Nare configuration - I'm there.

I'm still waiting for the "no mask" xPAP option.

Best,

Tom
