Mirage LIberty

I spend my first night last night with my new Mirage LIberty hybrid mask. I have to say I am in love with the thing. No leaks, no pains, no trouble! I hope it stays this great.

I plan on getting one of those Mask next time around. I hope for the same success!

This has definitely become my soul-mate mask. I don't feel it at all when it's on. I just picked up an Innomed Hybrid recently, to see if I'd have the same success, and no. It just doesn't fit me right. Mirage Liberty is perfect for my face/head. May everyone find their soul-mate mask, whatever it is!

I have a Mirage Liberty (I envision an apparition of the statue in the middle of the Sahara ) in my collection
of tried-and-rejected masks.

Your comments have me thinking that I should retrieve it and give it another try.

I asked my RT about it and his immediate response was "It's JUNK!". Of course, this is the same guy who gave me a "Large" Quattro when I actually use a "Medium"...

Now on my 3rd night with the mask.. and when it's good it's great but when it's not good- it's very bad! It seems to make a lot of noise at times and then stop. I haven't yet been able to figure out why this is. I still love it and won't trade masks but it's annoying at times.

I'm assuming you've verified there aren't any leaks. Depending on the type of noise it's making, either the anti-asphyxia valve is stuck half-closed or something is directly in front of either exhaust vent.

I definitely think this is a more, shall we say, niche mask. It's not like the Swift FX, for example, which works for the vast majority of people who like nasal pillows. The Liberty is hard to fit, and the headgear won't fit some heads at all. It probably doesn't work for most people who try it, but for those of us it does work for, it is a GODSEND.

In other words, I love it, and you couldn't pry it from my death grip. But I think many people do better on the Innomed Hybrid, or a regular FF mask. Masks are just like running shoes -- what feels PERFECT on my feet may be a blistery nightmare for someone else.

I do mod my Liberty a little though. I have Padacheek strap covers on, a Padacheek mask liner, AND a Padacheek "barrel cozy" that was designed for the Swift FX. The latter stabilizes the nasal pillows and prevents movement/leaks. I've also applied a tiny bit of lanolin to the spot where the elbow attaches to the mask -- it used to be a little squeaky. All of that together has made the mask ridiculously quiet, with a near-zero leak rate and an AHI <1 every night.

I think I've tracked the noise down to a leak at the nose. I just have to lift the mask up a little and it stops so this morning I tightened the top straps so I bet it will be ok.

I also just ordered the padacheek liner and made my own strap covers with fleece.
