seven months in and I don't see any difference at all. I'd say i'm slightly more tired during the day but it isn't a huge difference one way or the other. BP is fine - 115/55 yesterday at the GP - but it was always fine. I find it more difficult to fall asleep each night to the extent that every now and then it takes me hours to fall off - this never happened before cpap. Only days i missed in that time was Sandy and one day where i just used my dental appliance. Otherwise i use both a cpap machine ( an auto bipap) and a dental appliance which allows me to lower my pressure considerably and thus make it much more comfortable. I hope that it works out better for you than it has for me.

The model name is clearly stated on the top of the machine...so there is no guess work.
The S9 Autoset is the top of the line.
Just make sure it doesn't say Escape Auto and you will be in great shape.
You will like the Autoset... if they don't give you the Climateline heated hose...ask for it. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
What does the climate heated hose do? Why is it different than a "regular" hose? They said I have to get a humidifier does that make a difference? Sorry I'm trying to figure all this out BEFORE I go to my DME and they tell me I have to have this and that....

The Climateline hose offers automatic humidity delivery in conjunction with whatever temperature you prefer.
The humidity delivered stays constant due to sensors and temperature in the hose.
Much less chance for rain out to develop...rain out is condensation in the hose. While it won't hurt you it is extremely annoying and it doesn't take but a tiny bit of moisture to condense in the hose for a horrible racket to be heard. Guaranteed to wake you up (and your bed partner) and anything that disturbs sleep is unwanted.
So you get a more consistent delivered humidity at a more consistent temperature.

With the regular hose...all you can do is alter the settings on the humidifier...the higher the setting the higher the little plate heats up to deliver more moisture. Humidity will fluctuate some as well as temperature.
Chance of condensation in the hose...greatly increases especially if bedroom is very cool.

Now you might do just fine with the regular hose but you might also have some problems that could be remedied simply by the use of the heated hose...that's why I said better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

We all went for years without the heated hose and had to do all sorts of things to reduce the rain out (condensation)...hose cozies help but add weight to the long hose..that's kinda annoying because it can pull the mask away from the face.

Mainly the advantage to the Climateline...consistent humidity and temperature delivery with minimal chance of condensation in the hose and mask. Anything that can make you possibly more comfortable is something that might allow you to sleep better and sleeping better is what this therapy is all about.

I have had rain out in the hose and mask...it won't hurt you but it sure messes with your sleep. Nothing like getting a cold spray out the vent holes back onto your face or snorting a teaspoonful of water up your nose to wake you up pretty quickly.
When I started therapy we didn't have all these heated hose things..all we could do was spend $150 on a stand alone heated hose from Australia or make our own. I battled rain out for 2 winters before I bought a stand alone heated hose.
Now this past winter...I have the CLimateline and it is soooooo worth it.

So I just got my script from the sleep lab and they said they won't go over results w me until my machine is in but here's what the script says: RESMED auto cpap, mask of patients choice, headgear, heated humidifier, heated tubing hcpc a4604 and/ or tubing hcpc a7037, filter and supplies as needed, AHI: 13.7, pressure setting 7.0cm h2o
Is the heated tubing that they ordered what your talking about..... You are EXTREMELY knowlegable and I'm 28 and never known anyone with this condition......

Yes, that would be the ClimateLIne...if they give you any grief...tell them you prefer a really cold bedroom.

Make sure the machine says AutoSet and not Escape Auto..the wording of the script leaves the door open for the Escape Auto.

Sleep apnea doesn't just hit us older folks...did you know that kids can have it? We have a forum member whose 8 year old son was diagnosed.

Age, sex, weight...no discrimination..between young or old, male or female, skinny or fat...it can happen to anyone.
You are young. It's very possible that in your lifetime there will be other available options for treating OSA come from a twinkle in someone's eye today.
Right now..this is what we have and while sleeping with the mask and machine wasn't on the top of my bucket list...it really is a non issue if you have the right attitude.

Keep reading and learning...in 6 months you will be a Pro.

Health results from using a cpap... What to expect?
Expect everything that is made worse by insufficient air and by insufficient sleep to stop getting worse.

And expect everything that can be helped by sufficient air and sufficient sleep to get better.

But when it comes to overall health, one of the most important things successful PAP therapy can do is to allow us more energy to invest in lifestyle changes, such as activity levels and diet choices. If we don't invest what we get from successful PAP therapy, it doesn't do all the good for us that it can do.

PAP allows us to be healthier, but it doesn't do it for us all by itself if we aren't doing everything else that goes with a healthy lifestyle. As an example, vigorous exercise early in the day, as made possible by all the breathing and sleeping the night before, can do wonders for anxiety in many people.

In my opinion.

Some things improved from the first night of use:
- Drowsiness while driving disappeared
- Felt rested when I awoke in the morning
- Morning headaches went away. (Not totally. I still get some, but they are rare now.)
- Only got up to pee once or twice

Within a few months:
- My lungs felt better (and what my MD had diagnosed as "mild COPD" was later declared to be cleared up by my pumonologist.)
- now I only get up to pee once a night, and have even had a few nights where I slept right thru the whole night.)
- I now find it way easier to stick to my diet, whereas before I found it impossible. And my weight loss is at a more rapid rate.
- Correspondingly, am also finding it easier to exercise. Oh, it's not that I'm jumping or dancing, but I find it easier to just get up and take walks. Before I was always feeling completely wiped out.
- I occasionally get up to do things because I'm tired of sitting around. Little things, like I keep my kitchen cleaner, do my laundry more frequently, even take more pleasure in cooking.

I've only had my machine for about 5 months, but already I know there's no way I'd ever do without it.
