How many hours should I sleep each night?
I've been sleeping 9 1/2 - 10 hours each night for ages and have been on cpap for years. Often find myself waking then falling asleep for another hour three or four times until I finally force myself up. Have never woken refreshed with energy that I can remember. Could it be that I am sleeping too long?
Just tried an S9 last night and had no mask leaks and AHI was 2.5 with pressure of 11.
Should I be setting an alarm for 8 hours or less?

I don't know; do you have to be anywhere? (This is part of MY anticipated retirement plan. )

What kind of sleep are you getting? Quantity cannot make up for quality. I used to think all you had to do was wear the mask and use the machine 100% of sleep time. However I have read that unless you're getting into REM and the deep stages of sleep you are not getting the healing, restorative sleep. You may want to review sleep hygiene and perhaps visit a professional to help you learn how to sleep properly and more comfortably.

It might help if you'd fill out your profile (machine, mask, pressure settings, etc.)
If you're using a nasal mask, maybe you've been leaking your therapy air out your mask all this time.
Which S9? Do you have a data-capable machine and can/do you check your nightly data?

I agree with MaryZ (Mary... where ya' been?). I see that you have two choices... see a doctor or get a Zeo and it will tell you how much of each stage of sleep you are getting. Still if the Zeo detects something wrong you'll end up seeing a doctor anyway. Though people are different... You should get 6-7 hours a night. But it has to be all the stages and the right amount. Look online at yahoo health and read up on the right stages of sleep and the percentage you should be getting. Good luck!

There are a lot of factors to consider: Do you have to cram a lot of sleep in a short time period of time? Can you sleep in if necessary... ie. retired? Do you suffer from nightly pain? Do you suffer from chronic insomnia? What are your meds and are they keeping you awake? What is your alcohol usage... exercise, diet and caffeine consumption? Medical conditions that may contribute to sleeplessness? Is your nighttime environment conducive to sound sleep? I think you get the picture. Please, tell us some more about what your sleep habits are like and what you expect to achieve. Personally I get 9.5 hours a night and that works for me, but everybody is different.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

I can think of some truisms when it comes to sleep.
1. Sleep is complex.
2. Everyone is different.
3. There's never a simple solution.
4. Be an advocate for yourself - get educated.
5. Find the best sleep doc in your area and become partners.
