In all the years I’ve been on this planet, I’ve never seen such a worthless set of instructions as my new Remstar auto, Cflex came with. By the way I’m new to this whole cpap thing.
Anyhow, my settings came out of the box at 4.0-20. If I leave it like this and just push the start button, is the unit in the “auto” format then?
How do I adjust the minimum starting pressure? The instruction booklet is a joke. It simply states that to adjust the minimum start level to do so by pushing the ramp button or humidifier button.
Well, first of off the humidifier button says “heat “ second, the darn ramp button does not adjust when I push it. In fact I try with the unit off or on and it will take me into the menu, but nothing about any changing the pressure. What a joke.
I used the unit last night, by pushing the start button, putting on my hc431 mask and about two hours later, I woke from a half sleep hear pounding, utter panic and ripped the damn face off my mask.
The two port holes in my mask blow air and reading the other posts here, this is defective. Please someone tell me how to ramp UP the pressure. I have a Remstar auto, with cflex and a hc 431 mask.
Need help with adjusting cpap
On the Remstar Auto, you can always turn the C-flex function off; it has four setttings: CPAP-, non-C-flex, CPAP; APAP--Auto without C-flex, AFLE---Auto with C-Flex; CFLE--regular CPAP with C-flex. The options alone make it a very attractive therapy device.
-------------------
This is what I followed to change the settings on my machine
Unplug the machine.
Hold down the two gray Arrow buttons,
while Plugging in the power cord.
Machine beeps 3 times, release the arrow buttons your now in Setup mode.
First prompt is for CPAP or CFLE mode or the auto AFLE or APAP (You will wish to have AFLE or APAP), up/down arrow changes it, then CFLE setting (options are 1, 2 or 3, suggest starting with 2), next bottom ramp pressure (DO NOT USE if you are in AFLE or APAP mode), then high ramp/your titrated pressure, use the up arrow to increase, down arrow to lower, 00:00 , then it should be your lower pressure, increase that to something you are comfortable with. I would suggest 8cm, last settings are Patient alert (1=on/yes, 0=off/no), LCD light on/off. Hit the On/Off button to exit setup mode.
Make sure you do NOT set the ramp feature to on. When you are in auto mode, if you set the ramp feature on you will be in a half night study with low pressure.
Good luck

Restedgal, no such book in my package. Was I supposed to get one of these? The instructions I got are about 5 pages, of poorly written text. Very vague and does not eplain 1-100th of the information found on this site.rested gal wrote:Guest, did your REMstar Auto with C-Flex come with a booklet entitled Home Care Provider Setup Instructions?
Could you tell me how to know if my machine is in the ramp mode, or auto mode? I suppose i could run it and act like i'm snoring to see if it kiks up automatically. This is just crazy, you would think the machine would display, "auto" or ramp" on the screen? Thanks in advance for any info you might have.

When you are in the provider menu, on the right hand you will see Ramp
Setup
If you do NOT want ramp, set the time to 0
You need to set this to 0 if you are using AFLE or APA mode.
Press the right user button to go to the next setting
You will now see Ramp
SETUP Start
You can ignore this, because you have the time set to 0 on the previous screen.
Hit the Off/On button to get out of the clinician menu.
If you turn on your machine and hit the ramp button, nothing will happen since the time is set to 0. If Ramp was turned on, you would see RAMP in the led screen. If it is not turned on, and you hit ramp, you will just see
ex. 12cm H20
Card
