Best night yet!

Post by ughwhatname » Wed Oct 24, 2012 7:41 am

I went into last night with a very sore nostril but armed with some "udder cream" (would you believe that in Walgreens, they had NO nursing supplies whatsoever... what a sad state of affairs), a half dosage of Tylenol PM in my system, and determination to have a better night.

I had been spending so much time worrying and fussing with my mask, I wasn't sleeping. I decided to try to break the cycle by drugging myself to try to get past that. It worked! Day 13, and the best day yet. Still woke up a couple of times, which is my typical night, but went right back to sleep. Very little trouble with the mask, and though my nose is still a bit sore, not so bad. I loosened my straps, and I think the lanolin really helped to "seal the deal."

I appreciate all the suggestions and input I've received here. My number of events are down to about 5-6 a night, with an AHI consistently under 1. Can't argue that. I haven't bounded out of bed just yet, but do feel much more awake during the day, and able to handle pressures at work more gracefuly.

So, thank you!

Congrats on meeting the challenge. Just a hint about the sore nose. Try a very thin dab of K-Y on your nostril. It's non-greasy and odorless.

Great news! As you get settled in, start to notice the little things that cause your leak rates and/or AHI to go up. But know that they will fluctuate as does your body and sleep habits. Lots of folks would kill for your AHI numbers. Anyway, hope the best for you! You are on your way!

Well, the Walgreens I went to had nothing of the kind, and I checked the entire pharmacy area of the store, the aisle for baby stuff, including bottles, eczema treatment, etc., feminine products, first aid, lotions, and a most of the other areas. Nothing but the udder cream was in that store. Maybe its an especially small store.

The other thing I changed last night was the angle of my pillows. Evidently when I reattached them to the frame, I put them at a different angle from before, not realizing they were adjustable. By changing the angle, it made my nose more comfortable, as well as helped my ability to exhale.
