E 87 has been talked about in the past. Look at the above search results I found.
Very old machine. A couple of ideas to try are mentioned in a couple of threads. Give them a read and try them and if no luck....it may have died and may cost more to repair than it is worth.

If I were me I would take the machine apart (like remove the humidifier from the PAP unit) as far as I easily could, clean it - let dry - re-assemble --- while doing this I would run some soapy water though the humidifier water tank (and maybe a cloth) - rinse - then half vinegar and water for 15 to 30 minutes - rinse - soap and use cloth and swabs to clean - rinse - rinse - fill - put in clean and now attached humidifer unit - dawn mask - turn on and - hope!
If it still errored out I would use an external humifier if I had one (lots of them at any RX or Target etc...) and if not I would do the old "pan of water on the heater or stove on very very low" trick runinng my machine without the humidifier (use the connection straight from the PAP with humidifier unit removed).
I hope you do sleep well tonight!
